Outside The Wall
Pink Floyd Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

All alone, or in two's
The ones who really love you
Walk up and down outside the wall
Some hand in hand
And some gathered together in bands
The bleeding hearts and the artists
Make their stand
And when they've given you their all
Some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy
Banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall

Isn't this where

Overall Meaning

we all find ourselves at some point in our lives? Standing alone, or with just a few people who truly care for us, looking at the world from the outside in. The song speaks to the universal human experience of feeling disconnected from the world around us, and struggling to find a place where we belong.

But amidst the isolation, there are still those who band together, holding hands and making a stand for what they believe in. These are the bleeding hearts and the artists, the ones who feel the weight of the world’s injustices especially heavily. They pour their hearts and souls into creating and advocating for change, never giving up despite the Mad Bugger's Wall that threatens to keep them apart.

And yet, even they can only give so much before they too start to stumble and fall. It’s not an easy road, weathering the brickbats and arrows of those who seek to tear us down. But as the song fades into silence, we’re left with a message of hope: even in our darkest moments, we’re not alone. For every person who walks outside the wall, there are others standing by our side.
