Eclipse
Pink Floyd & Floyd Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All that you touch
And all that you see
All that you taste
All you feel
And all that you love
And all that you hate
All you distrust
All you save
And all that you give
And all that you deal
And all that you buy
Beg, borrow or steal
And all you create
And all you destroy
And all that you do
And all that you say
And all that you eat
And everyone you meet (everyone you meet)
And all that you slight
And everyone you fight
And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come

And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Pink Floyd's song "Eclipse" are a powerful reminder that everything we do in life, every action we take, every experience we have, leaves a mark in the world. The song echoes the ancient concept of karma, where every thought and action creates ripples in the universe, and where the sum of these ripples, over time, shapes our destiny. The song lists many opposites, such as love and hate, inspire and destroy, good and bad, creating a contrast between light and dark.

The song also alludes to the profound relationship between the sun and the moon, where the sun symbolizes life and the moon signifies death. In the final lines, the song culminates in the phrase, "the sun is eclipsed by the moon," a metaphor for the ultimate struggle between life and death, creation and destruction. The song's chorus, "everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon," encompasses the idea that all things are interconnected, and even though the natural order seems predictable, unexpected twists can happen.

Pink Floyd's song, "Eclipse," is a masterpiece of simplicity and depth. The song is a fitting finale to the album, "The Dark Side of the Moon," as it elegantly ties together the record's themes of loss, madness, greed, and hope. The song's poetry is timeless and has become an anthem of sorts for generations of listeners. "Eclipse" is a reflection on the human experience that speaks to people on a primal level.

One of the most fabulous concerts I EVER had the privilege to attend. A truly marvelous memory, never forgotten. Thank you Pink Floyd 🤩🙏

The Darkside of the Planet

TBH - there are no words to describe the trip we were on whilst at the concert....Having been to countless concerts by various bands, U2, EAGLES, ROLLING STONES, foo fighters, supergrass, MCCARTNEY, RADIOHEAD, etc etc, this has to have been the most AMAZING concert experience I have ever SEEN! It was perfect in every way! The sound, just mind blowing, mind u, u could hear a pin drop at some parts, with 70,000 watching, as the audience including myself seemed to have been put under a spell, especially just before The darkside of the Moon, second half. Just before the heartbeats come on. The feeling u have during the whole concert was just like as if you have been taken to outer space and just drifting in outer orbit.....from one track to another...... after more than 3 and a half hours, most of us seriously could not speak a word. And on the way home, there was no radio, and just silence, for the remaining of the evening...remansesing about the trip we just HAD! AGAIN, SEEN COUNTLESS bands, but no act could give u the feeling this band could muster. Simply amazing, and cannot be described in words.

Gee buddy, you’ve seen a lot of bands. I’ve only ever seen a handful but one was this one and I was at this concert too. Incredible what an amazing group to see live.I confess to seeing Pink Floyd several times. Main road in Manchester was pretty memorable.
