Eclipse
Pink Floyd Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All that you touch
And all that you see
All that you taste
All you feel
And all that you love
And all that you hate
All you distrust
All you save
And all that you give
And all that you deal
And all that you buy
Beg, borrow or steal
And all you create
And all you destroy
And all that you do
And all that you say
And all that you eat
And everyone you meet (everyone you meet)
And all that you slight
And everyone you fight
And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come

And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Pink Floyd’s song “Eclipse” confront the listener with the idea of everything in the world from what we touch, see, taste, feel, love, and hate, is connected in one way or another. Nothing is insignificant. Whether we create or destroy something, it still affects everything around us. The song goes even further, pointing out that even people we simply meet, or perhaps slight or fight, are all tied together under the same sun. Essentially, the song is about unity and connectivity.

Although there is a lot of talk of things being destroyed and things being created, the song ultimately ends on a positive note. Despite the sun being eclipsed by the moon, which could be interpreted as a metaphor for bad things happening in the world, “everything under the sun is in tune”. This line assures us that despite the turmoil, the world is a living, breathing entity that keeps going, keeps being “in tune”. It’s a song that ultimately demonstrates that no matter what’s happening in the world, we’re all living under the same sun and moon, and we should remember our connection to each other, to the world, and to the universe.

@Butzemann123

i had heavy anxiety attacks for several weeks like every night.
(with heavy i mean i woke up in a state of pure horror and ran out of the house in the middle of the night wearing only boxers and a shirt..)

I made some sort of a ritual to put myself together while being in fear of dying ,(i really thought i go insane)

Control breathing, put something cold on my forehead, going for a walk, making a tea and final step was listening music.
When i heard this song i actually started crying while laughing.
I had goosebumps all over my body and it felt like all the anxiety just swept away.
It was so strange and that i almost had another panic attack because it felt so strange xD
But eventually it got better and now everytime i feel like getting an anxiety attack i listen to this sing to bring me back to that experience and it helps!

@Beilmanimal

I must not fear.

Fear is the mind-killer.

Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will face my fear.

I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.

Do you know what the eclipse is? Very funny you'd say that. This occult stuff has its way of being in people's minds without them even realizing it.
