Schlafe, mein Liebster, genieße der Ruh,
Sleep, my dearest, enjoy your rest.

Wache nach diesem vor aller Gedeihen!
wake after this so that all may thrive!

Labe die Brust,
Comfort the breast,

Empfinde die Lust,
feel the pleasure

Wo wir unser Herz erfreuen!
with which we make glad our hearts!

(Beautiful performance!)

In this scene Anke Vondung’s voice becomes excessively soft, on her face appears hardly visible smile. She fascinates us, brings to Bethlehem. The picture is like a renaissance madonna painting. She created intimate atmosphere, what is needed for high level performing of this aria. This performance is a real miracle. It's regrettable, that Anke Vondung didn't get enough acknowledgement of public or reviewers.
Orchestra has excellent, very soft sounding by using of baroque musical instruments with competent direction of young talented conductor.

I totally agree ! She is a wonderful singer. Do you know her DORABELLA in the 2006's Glyndebourne production, with an "all stars" cast - Persson, Lehtipuu, Pisaroni, Rivenq ?

So beautiful!!!
