What I Want
Plan A Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I lost my membership card to the
human race so don't forget the face
because I know that I do belong here

Go down the checklist let's see
feelings are good dishonesty is bad
and keeping it inside is worse still
If you want problems well I guess we
have one now but I can't tell you how
there's injuns over every goddamn hill

What do you want me to say?
What do you want me to do
to let you know that I still love you?

I see it coming from a million miles
away what else can I say the only way
you know I love you

And there's no eye to eye just Moses on
the mount or I'm down for the count
you need your man above or below you

I can not cry at will but I do wish I
could because it would do you good
when every joke I make is treason

There was a time when you could make

me laugh at will and you can do it still
but never is it for the right reasons

Overall Meaning

The song “What I Want” by Plan A starts with the lyrics “I lost my membership card to the human race so don't forget the face because I know that I do belong here.” This line describes the feeling of being rejected by society and highlights the struggle of trying to fit in. The singer goes on to express his frustrations with the societal norms and expectations for emotions, stating that “keeping it inside is worse still”. In the following lines, the singer asks what he needs to do or say to prove his love and devotion to someone, while also acknowledging the obstacles that come with finding common ground.

The lyrics then switch to a more metaphorical tone, referring to the eye-to-eye communication as “Moses on the mount or I'm down for the count” and suggesting that in order to feel loved, one needs their partner to either be above or below them. The last lines of the song describe the struggle of the singer to make his partner laugh and the inability to do so for the “right reasons.”

Overall, the song speaks of a struggle to find one’s place in society and within a relationship. It highlights the importance of communication and honesty, but also touches on the difficulties that come with it. The lyrics are poetic and introspective, offering a glimpse into the mind of the singer and their personal struggles with society and relationships.

@ochido nope Good question. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer or easy way to develop clarity. If it was easy, everyone in the world would be their ultimate best self. I'm just offering you how to get to the stream in the most simplest of terms. It's up to each individual on how to cross the stream (figure out what they want and don't want and how badly they want to actualize it, make it happen.)

I struggle myself to take as much right action as possible, but I take comfort in the fact that at least I know why when I don't (because I lack tremendous clarity.) I just crystalized a lot of this wisdom in the last few years, so I have over 50 some years of bad habits to overcome, But my life is a lot easier now that I know how to get to the stream without all of the obstacles (confusion) that you hear from most motivational speakers.

I don't do content, but I would recommend checking out some of my playlists on my channel (I have over 170) plus over 700 channels that I'm subscribed to. I would just checkout the ones that peak your interest, and know that i do my best to put my favorite videos at the top of each playlist.

Here's a couple of short movie clips that accentuate my point about clarity.

I remember listening to this time and time again thinking to myself “man I really need to quit drinking it’s been messing up my life in so many ways.” I’m so proud of myself for gathering over 90 days of sobriety. God willing there will be many more months and many years of sobriety ahead thanks Dr. P for the extra nudge and all the encouragement!

I can't explain how much this mere mortal has helped me in life. I will forever be thankful for his lessons.

Phantom Navigator Jordan peterson teaches truth from science and his life experience and wisdom. Call it a religion if you want. It does not take away from the experience of people who have found him to be a great help in their lives. He has touched mine in a way no human will ever.
