What I See
Planet P Project Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I see a planet that's glowing red
I see the millions burning in their beds
I see the beauty that might have been
Torn from the future by hungry men
I have the same dream every night
I wake up shaking in the morning light
I don't know what could be expected of me
I only know that I believe what I see
And you, do you see what I see
Yeah you, do you see what I see

This isn't quite the way I thought it would be
It seems they want to make a symbol of me
I have the power that can keep us alive
It's a sugar coated pill and it's bitter inside
I have the same dream every night
I wake up shaking in the morning light
I don't know what could be expected of me
I only know that I believe what I see

And you, do you see what I see
Yeah you, do you see what I see

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Planet P Project's "What I See" paint a picture of a world in turmoil, filled with destruction and pain. The first verse talks about a red glowing planet, indicating that something is very wrong. The line "I see the millions burning in their beds" is particularly gruesome, suggesting a catastrophic event or conflict that has resulted in mass casualties.

The song then shifts to focus on the singer's own experiences, with the line "I have the same dream every night" indicating that they are haunted by what they see. They are unsure of what is expected of them in this world, but they are determined to hold onto their beliefs and what they see. The repeated question of "And you, do you see what I see?" highlights the importance of shared understanding and empathy in times of crisis.

The phrase "It seems they want to make a symbol of me" suggests that the singer may have become a target or scapegoat in this chaotic world. They possess a power that can keep people alive, but it comes at a cost. The "sugar-coated pill" represents the false promises and illusions that people cling to in times of desperation, even if it ultimately leads to bitterness and disillusionment.

Overall, "What I See" is a powerful commentary on the state of the world and the individual's struggle to comprehend and cope with the horrors they see around them.
