The Anthem
Planetshakers Lyrics

By his stripes we are healed
By his nail-pierced hands we're free
By his blood, we're washed clean
Now we have the victory

The power of sin is broken
Jesus overcame it all
He has won our freedom
Jesus has won it all

Hallelujah
You have won the victory
Hallelujah
You have won it all for me

Death could not hold you down
You are the risen king
Seated in majesty
You are the risen king

By his stripes we are healed
By his nail-pierced hands we're free
By his blood, we're washed clean
Now we have the victory

The power of sin is broken
Jesus overcame it all
He has won our freedom
Jesus has won it all

Hallelujah
You have won the victory
Hallelujah
You have won it all for me

Death could not hold you down
You are the risen king
Seated in majesty
You are the risen king

Our God is risen, He is alive
He won the victory, He reigns on high

Our God is risen, He is alive
He won the victory, He reigns on high

Our God is risen, He is alive
He won the victory, He reigns on high

Our God is risen, He is alive
He won the victory, He reigns on high

Hallelujah
You have won the victory
Hallelujah
You have won it all for me

If death could not hold you down
You are the risen king
Seated in majesty
You are the risen king

Hallelujah
You have won the victory
Hallelujah
You have won it all for me

Death could not hold you down
You are the risen king

Seated in majesty
You are the risen king

Overall Meaning

The Anthem by Planetshakers is a powerful and uplifting song that speaks to the victory we have through Jesus Christ. The lyrics are full of biblical references that highlight the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross. The opening lines, "By his stripes we are healed, By his nail-pierced hands we're free, By his blood, we're washed clean, Now we have the victory," are referencing Isaiah 53:5 which says, "But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds, we are healed."

The chorus of the song, "Hallelujah, You have won the victory, Hallelujah, You have won it all for me," is a declaration of praise to God for the victory we have through Jesus Christ. The bridge, "Our God is risen, He is alive, He won the victory, He reigns on high," highlights the resurrection of Jesus and how it is through His victory over death that we have eternal life. +Payn Head Hi.  The Bible says in Romans 10 verses 9 & 10 that if you will confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved.  For with the heart, man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  So, if you feel peace when praise music is played, it's a sign that your heart is awakening to God.  To become a Christian, open your mouth and say aloud:  "I believe Jesus died to pay for my sins.  I receive Jesus as my Lord and Saviour.  I am now born again."  It's that simple.
