Ryutaro and Tadashi wanted to combine two words to form the band name; something artificial and something natural. After trying a few combinations, they decided on ‘Plastic Tree’. Formerly, there were rumours floating around the web about the band’s name coming from Fake Plastic Trees but this was always disputed due to timing inconsistencies.
In the beginning, Plastic Tree were influenced greatly by The Cure. There was also a large britrock influence. Plastic Tree played a mix of indie rock, punk, and heavier grunge, characterized by Ryutaro’s generic Visual Kei voice and gloomy lyrics. They went through a period where they played more pop-rock and radio-style rock music, although they have recently returned from lighter music to their original roots.
In July 2006, Plastic Tree embarked on their first world tour that took them to Germany, France and Finland.
On the 23rd of February 2009, Sasabuchi Hiroshi left the band and was later replaced by Satou Kenken..

"Marude, imi-fumei na rakugaki mitai kokoro moyou" refers to the feeling of one's heart being like a meaningless doodle or sketch. The next line, "nani wo hanaseba ii no? motsureta ito ga hodokenai" translates to "what should I say? The tangled string won't come undone." The singer is struggling to express their emotions and feelings, and the tangled string may represent the complexities of their thoughts.
The chorus, "tooku de kikoeru 'akai kutsu' mitai, dareka ga tsure-satteku yo. kimagure na hakuchuumu sameru no mo hayai kara, mata ato de tegami wo kaku yo" is about hearing someone else's voice in the distance, sounding like they're taking away something valuable. The singer is also questioning their own daydreams, which are fleeting and end quickly. They mention writing a letter later, possibly to the person taking away what they value.
The second verse is about not liking lies or getting hurt, and again struggling with what to say. The lines "yabukete bakari. kuro-yagi naita. PIANO-sen kireta" may represent destruction, sadness, and chaos in the singer's life. The chorus repeats twice more, emphasizing the feeling of someone else taking away what is valuable to the singer.
Overall, the song seems to be about struggling to express emotions and dealing with loss or the fear of losing something important.
