Ask Yourself
Plastikman Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(i guess it's a good place to start... inside my head, I guess it's where everything starts, and probably ends... all of these little ideas and, thoughts, comes around, so I guess the ideas for music and, you know, everything comes from somewhere... somewhere inside here... it would be interesting to exactly find the place where that starts, or, it's always different, maybe you can't isolate the exact location... anyway it's hard to say... well I guess it's a good place to start the album, I guess everything starts here... and probably ends here...)

I hear everything
Those aren't voices in your head
They're just the echoes of your indecision
Don't ask me
Ask yourself
I know everything
Those thoughts going around in your head
Trying to figure out what's right and what's wrong
Don't ask me
Ask yourself

I feel everything
Was it me, us, or them?
Or was it you?
Don't ask me
Ask yourself

I am everything
Why listen to me
I'm just a voice inside your head

I can't help you
Help yourself

Overall Meaning

The opening of the song "Ask Yourself" by Plastikman reveals the artist's contemplation about the origin of his creativity. He states that the ideas for his music and everything comes from somewhere inside his head, where everything starts and ends. He admits that it would be interesting to pinpoint the exact location where his creative process originates, but he is not entirely sure whether it is possible to isolate the exact location. The lyrics are an introspective journey into the artist's creative process and a deep understanding of the connection between the inner self and the artwork that one creates.

The following verses in the song highlight the notion that our thoughts are fundamentally driven by our indecision, and we need to ask ourselves to find the right answers. Plastikman suggests that we should trust our inner selves and find answers within ourselves rather than seeking external validation. The lyrics imply that we should stop listening to the external voices and trust our inner voice to make the right decisions.

The song's final verse reinforces the message that the artist is just a voice inside one's head, and the ultimate decision-making power resides with the individual. The lyrics convey that helping oneself is the only path to finding the right answers and one's true self.

Najbardziej klimatyczny i mroczny minimal jaki do tej pory słyszałem.... uwielbiam do tego wracać...w klubie robi rewelacyjnie wrażenie szczególnie gdy ludzi wbija w parkiet.

There used to be a huge nightclub in Toronto called "The Guvernment" and when they played music like this it was going to be one of the best nights!!! They closed permanently a few years ago but this vibe just brought back so many awesome memories!
