The Magic Touch
Platters (the) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You've got the magic touch
It makes me glow so much
It casts a spell, it rings a bell
The magic touch

Oh when I feel your charm
It's like a fourth alarm
You make me thrill so much
You've got the magic touch

If I go reeling, uh oh, I'm feeling the glow (uh oh)
But where can I go from you

I didn't know too much
And then I felt your touch
And now I've learned I can return
Magic touch

If I go reeling, uh oh, I'm feeling the glow (uh oh)
But where can I go from you

I didn't know too much
And then I felt your touch
And now I've learned I can return
The magic touch

(Dooh, dooh, dooh, dooh)
(Dooh, dooh, dooh, dooh, dooh)

Overall Meaning

The Platters' song "The Magic Touch" is a classic love song that talks about the power of love and how it affects the singer. The song begins by describing the magic touch of the person the singer loves. This touch makes the singer "glow so much" and casts a spell that "rings a bell." The song then continues to describe the powerful emotions that this magic touch evokes in the singer, comparing it to a "fourth alarm" and making the singer "thrill so much."

The chorus repeats this idea of the magic touch, asserting that it has the power to make the singer "go reeling" and "feel the glow." The singer acknowledges that they cannot escape this magic touch and have learned to return it. The song ends with a simple repetition of the words "magic touch" as a way to emphasize the theme of the song.

"The Magic Touch" was a hit for The Platters in 1956 and was written by Buck Ram, who also wrote many of The Platters' other popular songs. The song became one of the band's signature tunes, and it cemented their status as one of the most successful vocal groups of the 1950s.

God bless you.
My dad's been home with the Lord nearly 14 years. We loved The Platters.

If your relationship was anything like ours then I know how you feel.

Just remember...

Psalm 116:15 KJV...
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
