Both Ian and Lara had a love for music from a very early age. Lara chose the piano, Ian the guitar.
After studying music and sound engineering at Rome, writing and recording with the ambient project Ex Machina and alternative electro pop group Otero, Lara became a partner and A&R of Dune Records, an independent Italian label based in Florence.
Ian had always played in local bands while in the U.K. and after finally finding like minded musicians the electro-rock band ‘Pukromo' was born.
In late 1999 Pukromo signed to Dune Records recording their debut album ‘Promise Me Kill Me' in Florence during 2000.
Unfortunately, the album was never released, the band split and Dune Records closed down, but Lara and Ian got together.
Ian moved to Italy in 2002 and the two got married in 2004. After a couple of years, some old impulses to make music creeped back and they started writing what would become their first album '14 Days', released independently in 2006. ''A pure and natural record in a world of ipods and samples,14 Days achieves that rare objective of having just the right balance between emotion and good tunes. Message with melody.''
2008 sees the release of Plunkett’s second album ‘Folk Songs’. Contrasting its predecessor, although still remaining alternative contemporary folk rock, the sound and feeling of the album is much more direct with as much emphasis on the lyrics as on the music showing the maturity of the duo. “Plunkett’s second album is an 'important' work. A record of simple appearance and direct delivery, which hides much more that what can be tasted at first glance..''
With a desire to only write songs and move people, Plunkett choose to remain independent artists and work outside of the mainstream music business making their albums available to their audience with the support of online independent distributors.
The third album of the duo will be released in 2011.

New Day
Plunkett Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Is where it's at
I still get the blues but
I keep coming back
It's alright
On my side
I saw a lady
Who only drinks champagne
I think she's inane
It's alright
On my side
There's folk alike around me
And it feels good
So all of this won't bug me
Least not today
I saw a guy who
Thinks he's got a great arse
He lives to be gorgeous
I just think he's a twat
It's alright
On my side
There's folk alike around me
And it feels good
Not closing doors and fading
Like a setting sun
So there's all this love around me
Let me feel it again
That's when I believe I'm standing
For a new day
Hey there Princess!
Hey there Beautiful!
We'll take your hands now
Just try and let go
Grow with all this love around us
Let's all share it again
That's when we'll believe we're standing
In a new day
New Day
A SHEEP TALE
(Come 'ere then...)
Come little ones let us tell you a story
About a black sheep in a bold ancient land
Where most sheep were good but others were bad
And they huffed and they puffed 'till they made him feel
Sad
So he went to the mountains
Went to the sea
He opened his heart and breathed
Soft warm light fell upon
Two tired eyes
Time stood still and he cried
Back to the flock and he felt so alone
He dreamed of a friend and a place they'd call home
Nothing else mattered and no one else cared
Then out of the blue another black sheep appeared
And they went to the mountains
Went to the sea
Opened their hearts and breathed
Soft warm light fell on four
Loving warm eyes
Time stood still and they smiled
At the sun
The lyrics of Plunkett's song "New Day" depict the singer's realization that living with reason is the way forward, though they still experience feelings of sadness. The song implies that with an influx of positivity and love from people around, one can rise above the blues and the negative vibes of people like the whiskey-drinking, pretentious lady and the self-centered guy who thinks he's the best. The singer feels good surrounded by people like him, who share his ethical values, and he does not see any point in shutting doors and giving up. The repeated phrase, "It's alright on my side," suggests that this is the singer's choice to be positive and focus on the good people around him. The chorus promotes a New Day as the singer echoes sentiments of Princesses and Beautifuls that can take hands and believe in standing together for a new day. The Sheep Tale cements the singer's message of coming together and feeling the love.

Come little ones let us tell you a story
Let us narrate a story to you
About a black sheep in a bold ancient land

Where most sheep were nice but some were rude
And they huffed and they puffed 'till they made him feel
They annoyed him till he felt

Sad
So he went to the mountains
He went to the mountains
Went to the sea
Visited the sea
He opened his heart and breathed
He opened himself up emotionally
Soft warm light fell upon
A gentle warm feeling filled him
Two tired eyes
He felt his eyes get tired
Time stood still and he cried
He really felt emotion and cried
Back to the flock and he felt so alone
He rejoined the group and felt disconnected
He dreamed of a friend and a place they'd call home
He wished for a friend and a home
Nothing else mattered and no one else cared
Nothing else was important and no one else was concerned
Then out of the blue another black sheep appeared
A new sheep joined him suddenly
And they went to the mountains
They approached the mountains
Went to the sea
Went back to the sea
Opened their hearts and breathed
Opened themselves up emotionally
Soft warm light fell on four
A gentle warm feeling filled them both
Loving warm eyes
They looked at each other with love
Time stood still and they smiled
For a moment, time stopped and they were happy
At the sun
Towards the sun
