1) Point Blank is an American rock and roll band hailing from Texas. The band formed in 1974 and recorded six albums between 1976 and 1982. Garnering occasional airplay on AOR radio stations, the band is best known for their 1981 hit single "Nicole".
On their album 'Second Season' (imge provided) ... With the success of their eponymous debut recording, Point Blank had a reasonable amount of momentum heading into the studio to record Second Season. But rather than rearrange or pepper things up a bit in the recording process, Point Blank pretty much stayed the same as they did for their first record: a five-piece (they ditched the keyboardist) writing songs around crunchy blues guitar riffs that resemble a hybrid of British hard rock (Zeppelin, Deep Purple) and Southern rock. As a result, there really isn't much improvement over the first album (save for the removal of the cheesy, pun-infected cover art, replaced by the lads in the band "taking it easy" in the backyard, complete with yellow sunlit soft-focus photography). It's not the worst album in the Point Blank catalog, but it certainly isn't the best. For die-hard fans and Southern rock fanatics only. In 1982 Point Blank released their fourth album, "American Exce$$" which included the song Nicole. With strong air-play on AOR radio stations the track reached #20 on Billboard Magazine's Rock Tracks chart. Subsequently, Nicole was also released as a 45 RPM single and peaked inside the Top 40 at #39 on Billboard's Hot 100. While other songs received airplay and charted, this was the only time Point Blank placed a record inside the top 40, and thus the band are remembered by some as a one-hit wonder.

We started playing somewhere in the end of 1999, under the influence of the hardcore wave that Macedonia was in. Everyone was playing hardcore, and so were we. But soon we’ve realized that simply hardcore was not us, although we liked the energy that playing hardcore produces. So our music started to change. No one was talking about changes but our telepathy worked. We started to make more complex and more melodic rock/metal songs, and the atmosphere in the band changed. Everybody started to behave more serious and more dedicated. We simply wanted to sound modern. At that point we’ve realized that POINT BLANK was no more some adolescent joke. Everyone in the band had experience with other bands before we started playing, but nothing like this. This was it. When we started playing, we were like 2 and a half years locked up in our garage making music and searching for our own sound. We simply wanted to be ready before our first performance. We were, and still are convinced that live acts are the most important thing that builds the band character, despite the recording sessions. So the time for our first gig came…Our first gig went the way every new band wanted, crowded, claustrophobic, and very hot. It all started after that… Recording studios, radio and TV shows, Festivals, Tours… The band members are: Blagoja Gigov – Guitar Metodija Atanasovski – Guitar Damjan Mitrevski – Vocals Dimitri Trickovski – Bass Vladimir Mitrevski – Drums All five of us are together in the band since day one. We don’t have changes in the band and we don’t plan to do that because we’re great together…We understand and respect each other very much, and besides that, we’re friends like a 100 years. So that`s our short story. We hope we didn`t
4)One of Canada's most recognized groups in hip-hop, Point Blank continue to make long strides in the music industry. Comprised of 6 emcees and one in house producer - Imperial, Trouble, Stump, Kidd, RPD, Jackal and Pikihed - share a common goal and vision to be the voice of youth growing up in the inner city. All members were raised in Toronto, Ontario's infamous Regent Park - North America's Oldest Social Housing Project. Their recordings are a reflection of their experiences growing up in the impoverished neighborhood. As artists, they all have distinctive lyrical styles and deliveries reminiscent of classic hip-hop groups like Wu-Tang & Boot Camp. As a group, PB has performed alongside hip-hop legends such as Rakim , KRS-1 , Outkast and Mobb Deep . Their national success has allowed them to travel across the country and build a solid fan base of listeners and supporters.
Running as a crew since 1989, the members' first united in elementary school and formed a group called Poetic Vandals . In the early 90's, the group launched Tilt Rock Records , the imprint label they are currently signed to. After forming Tilt Rock Records, the group later re-named themselves to Point Blank, which represented their raw, to the point and bold attitude. Their lyrics speak of racial profiling, single parent households, poverty, community programs, crime, drug addiction, crooked politicians, police and other social issues surrounding youth growing up in government housing.
Members Trouble, Stump & Kidd are all brothers and Pikihed & RPD are also identical twins. These family ties have instilled a strong sense of family values and loyalty within the group. It has also bred a strong desire to see their families enjoy better living conditions and prosper .
In 1996 Point Blank released " Retaliation " on DJ X's Power Move Show (CKLN 88.1FM) Demo Battle, and received their first public appraisal. Shortly after, they were featured on Muchmusic's "Soul in The city" program. Opportunities started knocking on the door and later that year, NFL all-star Andre Rison signed the group to his own label, Bullpen Records . Point Blank moved to Atlanta, where they resided with Andre Rison and the late Left Eye Lopez the group recorded several singles and shared stages with remarkable groups like Outcast. In 1997 Point Blank dropped the 12'' single " Startin Shit/ 3 Man Weave " . Before long they were featured in The Source Magazine , representing music splurging from the city of Toronto. In 2000 Tilt Rock Records dropped Point Blank Underground - a compilation of 16 tracks from previous work, which sold roughly 5000 units. The release was followed by the single " Thin Line . " The track grew to befall one of the most requested Canadian tracks in record pools all across Canada and charted on Flow 93.5's Battle of the Beats for a myriad of weeks. Success surrounded the group as they started getting features on main TV and Radio shows and appearing on publications such as Peace, Pound, Now Magazine as well as Toronto Star and The Sun . In 2003 Ed The Sock from Much Music visited Regent Park, giving the group a chance to speak in behalf of the neighborhood. Shortly after, Point Blank were invited to perform live on Much Music for Ed's big Wham Bam, as well as host Rapcity, where their video " Want It Wit Us ," had reached the top 5 chart on MuchMusic's Rapcity.

Straighten It Out
Point Blank Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
(Have you been to the ghetto lately?)
Hell yeah I've been in this mothafucka since day one and I ain't trying
Straighten it out...
[K Rino]
Yo Blank man you know I understand where you coming from...
You don't have to explain all that to me dog...
All I can tell you to do is watch out for them laws and keep your nuts up...
K Rino know you ain't no punk man...
See, a lot of people gonna try to get you slipping...
So you gotta watch your back, homeboy...
You know I'm right behind you so don't even look back...
[Point Blank]
All I remember is I was playing with a matchbox
Took the matches out and fill it up with rocks
When I'm up the cut I slum, a lot of niggas got hum
But I was one of the lucky ones
Anyway I kept doing
Not knowing something had come along ruing it
Dope fiend set me up
I lost my money, my car and my nuts
It was hard to forget and when I finally realized I ain't got shit
I wanted to skip town and give them a chase
I said: 'Fuck it!', got a lawyer and tried to beat the case
I walked up in the courtroom
And looked around at the place where I soon meet my doom
The judge asked what I plea
I waited a couple of minutes and said: 'Damn, I'm guilty!'
I had to go to the penitentiary
Best he can give me was 6 and I knew I had to do 3...
Long years behind bars
With the rest of American Most Wanted's stars
Then I asked myself: 'Why me?'
I should've thought about this when I was making that money
Shit, now I'm in a jailcell all alone
Trying to get used to my new home
Thinking about things that I used to do
Planning when I get out what I'm not gonna do
Hell, 3 years ain't that long
It will give me some time to write a whole lot of songs
Man, now I'm trying to chill myself up
But deep inside my heart's just toe-up
Trying to psych myself out
But at the couple of months I've been played this shit out
I used to be a crazy ass dope man
Rolling with Scarface, Terrorists and the Peter Man
I should've listened to the godfather
He said: 'Blank, you better chill or your ass gonna suffer!'
And that's exactly what I'm doing
Damn, my life is ruing
Selling that shit...
[K-Rino]
Yeah, I know you gotta live and learn...
No brothas won't even sweat that...It will be alright...
Yeah, South Park Coalition gotta stick together, man...
Society ain't going with us so I say down the society...
You know what I'm talking about, brothas?
Blank, you know you're a child of a concrete so you can handle anything
that comes at you...
Got a mind like a handgranade detinated to explode to them laws,
brotha...
[Point Blank]
My son was 8 months when I lost track
And he'll be damn near 4 when I get back
And if do see him then
Will he know I his father or think I'm a strange man
Sometimes I say he'll remember me
But if I ask: 'Come here, bean!', will he answer me?
I guess this I never know
Until I get out in 1994...
[K-Rino]
Yeah, times get to the point where a brotha don't know what's coming at him...
See, Point Blank's kicking reality...
S.P.C. can't go wrong...
Yo, Blank, I know you did wrong, brotha...
Sometimes you gotta go wrong to learn what's right...
You know what I'm talking about?
I know you do...
[Point Blank]
Now I'm back in the streets and guess what I'm starting?
Selling drugs and store robbing
My son was bigger than a mothafucka
I was 22, he was 4, looked just like my little brotha
Deep in my heart I felt nothing but pain
Couldn't count worth shit but I can measure some cocaine
My father said: 'Son, ya better sit down...
or somebody gonna put you in the ground!'
But no, I ain't listening
I make my own decisions, fuck the ass-kissing
I'm not a menace to society
God damn it, society is a menace to me
Point Blank is strong
I did what ever I had to do cause I knew I wouldn't live long
So I called my girlfriend
She said: 'Baby, please stop, you just got out of the pen!'
But one day a lot shit went wrong
Punk mothafuckas done tap my telephone
Yeah, they tired to rob me
I knew it wasn't a hit cause the shit was slobby
I went along with it
The last thing I saw was the sky and I never forget it
And as I laid on the ground
I said: 'God, I let you down!'
I guess it's too late to straighten it out...
[K-Rino]
Yo, Blank, we moving like a shadow, baby...K-Rino gots your back...
As these streets raise you, use your brain...It will be alright...
There ain't no choice for niggas out there...
So you got people making your life go with you...
My boy Dope-E, Egypt-E, K.O...You can't loose with that S.P.C...
South Park is a war...Niggas born drafted...
But Ice Cream and Milk is always on your side...
Let it ride, brotha...Let it ride...
86...Dope...
The song "Straighten It Out" by Point Blank featuring K Rino is a reflection on the harsh realities of living in a ghetto, getting into trouble, and trying to straighten oneself out. Point Blank starts off by reminiscing how he started by playing with a matchbox and filling it up with rocks, but ended up selling drugs and committing robbery. He reflects on his time in jail, how he lost everything including his money, car, and nuts, and how he missed out on his son’s early years. He talks about trying to psych himself up, but not being able to do so for long. K Rino tries to counsel him to watch out for the authorities and keep his head up. He tells Point Blank that the South Park Coalition (SPC) should stick together because society is not on their side.
The song also shows how despite being in different places, K Rino and Point Blank are bonded by their shared experiences in the ghetto. For instance, when K Rino tells Point Blank, "you know you're a child of a concrete so you can handle anything that comes at you", he is alluding to Point Blank's upbringing in the ghetto, which had toughened him up for the hardships that lay ahead. It's a reminder that even though they have both faced difficulties, they can still survive by banding together.
In summary, "Straighten It Out" is a song that speaks to the harsh realities of living in the ghetto and trying to stay alive. It paints a picture of two men, Point Blank and K Rino, who despite being in different stages of their lives and career, still share a bond that extends beyond the confines of the lyrics. The song is a plea for all those in the ghetto to "Straighten It Out" and stick together against a society that doesn't have their best interests at heart.
