I remember getting red when I was 11 onwards, getting home from school and playing it for hours on end, with your friends. Hooking up the link cable for a battle or a trade, There was mostly no internet in any of the places i went to, there were no walkthroughs, you just played hard, training up your team, listening to this classic music. Playing at night when you're meant to be sleeping trying to get a light from a streetlamp to shine on your gameboy. Those were the days :) I still play pokemon

I want to be 3/4/5 years old again and play this non-stop again :'( They should make another game with these graphics, audio, just for good ol' pokemon fans, when everyone had a gameboy and a pokemon game and play like maniacs... good old times :) Now pokemon is played on a 2 screen gaming system, by touching in one of them with a pen. Now you draw circles around them, and pokemon don't have owners anymore, and they talk. Who misses the old times like me...?

I'm only 14, and whoa. How lucky i was! I remember my big brother gave me Pokemon Blue that he got from his friend. She never played it, so she gave it to him, but he completed it, so then it became mine. Such an epic time i had playing this game! I remember when my Gameboy was out of electricity it was like the world's end :) This game is my whole childhood, and i am so glad i started with the first pokemon games. Played this for like 8 hours a day! Epic game, gives me goosebumps.

I got Pokemon Red a week before it was released in the US. One of my friends' friend that was in a gang broke into a Wal-Mart truck and stole a load of things for resell (which wasn't revealed to me until he wanted the game back at a later time). Two of those items were a Pokemon Red game, and the other was the original GameBoy. He offered them to me for $50 (which I begged my grandmother to buy it for me) because he felt I was the only nerd on the street that'll want the games. No one seemed interested in the Pokemon game because it was "too slow" for them.

Incredibly long backstory short: I had given back the original GB in trade for the GB Pocket because the guy thought the original GB would be worth something later and he wanted the Pokemon Red game back after finding out how big Pokemon became. He made me feel guilty saying $50 was more than enough for the GBP but my grandmother said she gave him $50 for everything and he should be happy with that.

I went on to collect all 151 Pokemon after showing the game off at school by inspiring my Turkish friend to beg his dad into buying him his first video game. I got bullied at first, but some of those kids went on to get the game as well. Since those times, I went on to play nearly every Pokemon game, but the Red songs and memories of playing the game will always triumph over its successors. Now, in China, I show off the game to a lot of people who would go on to get Pokémon Scarlet or Violet~ :)

I remember when I brought my Game boy Color for the first time to elementary school playing Red and EVERYONE flocked to me and treated me like a Goddess because I was one of the first kids in my school to have one. Now I play SoulSilver and everyone at my High School calls me a nerd. Pokemon grows with you, and you grow with Pokemon!

Not only is this game the best RPG on the GameBoy. It's also the best rpg on any handheld Nintendo console. The game has so many strong emotions that your heart catches. These type of games make games more memorable. Games these days focus too much on graphics, guns, violence, gangs, street racing, world war 2, etc. It just sickens me to see young children play these sorts of violence games.

well i guess as we age, our minds do too. I bet if you talk to any 8 year old kid 10 years from now, they'd think platinum was the most nostalgic game they ever played. It's just a matter of growing up and missing what we loved most... our memories, and that happens with everyone! For obvious reasons, RBY were the greatest! I remember vividly the day my Mom bought me the game. I was playing while my Mom chatted with my Grandpa in a cafe, and I didn't know how to save. Ah, how i miss the past

You know something I find odd? Cerulean City hardly has any water around it and yet it's known as having the Water-style Gym. Yet Vermilion City is a port town and it has the Electric-style Gym. Kind of weird when you think about it.

@EnglishTurtle I agree with you this game has a soul whereas nowadays, apart from explosions, murders, violence, speed etc..video games are quite empty. Pokemon R/B/Y is cult and it's one of memorable fact of 90's children around the world (France), the main trend for games in these years. It's important to highlight that the soul of this game doesnt come from graphisms, fights, music but the whole thing. the music here allows to bring back almost all this game alive in our heads

First time I played this, i sold everything that i had that could be sold. TMs, nuggets, medicine, balls, items... everything, in order to buy a bike. I spent hours and hours finding and selling all i could. Then i finally got up to 999 999 and i couldn't carry anymore money. I was devastated.
