Their first album Una Canción was produced and released in 1993 by Sony Music, who signed the group as an award after it controversially won a local battle of the bands for local radio station Radioactiva, against rock band EL Zut. The winning song was "Bailando sobre tu Piel".
The album's main hits were: "Desvanecer" composed by Turbay, "Una Canción", "Mi Generación" and "Beverly Hills". The song "Beverly Hills" was composed at the time the TV-series Beverly Hills 90210 was popular in local television.
Their second album was released in 1995 under the title Vueltas y Vueltas. The main hits were "Confusión" written by Turbay and "Fue Solo Amor".
The final studio album was released in 1996, and it did not receive great reception from the audience nor it had any major hit.
Poligamia decided to break up in 1998 because of the interest of each member to follow different careers in music and production. The farewell concert was programmed as the first in a festival with different bands from Bogota and was recorded as a live album named "Buenas Gracias - Muchas Noches" that included a live performance of the band's main hits and a new song named "Hasta que venga la mañana". Also, the album included a bonus track named "Ciertas Cosas". This song was lately re-recorded by Andres Cepeda in his first solo album "Se Morir"
Sony Music released a Poligamia greatest hits album in 2001.
Casualidad
Poligamia Lyrics

The first verse of Poligamia's "Casualidad" suggests a fear of rejection or perhaps a reluctance to reveal one's true feelings. The singer wants to express their desire for the person they are speaking to but does not want to do it in a confrontational manner. They hope to reveal their vulnerability through the other person's smile and then downplay it as a mere coincidence or circumstance. The second verse expands on this idea, describing how two people who have come together accidentally are now living out a dream. The singer wants the other person to discover their weakness and hopes to turn the situation into something more than just a casual encounter.
The chorus of "Casualidad" repeats the word "casualidad," emphasizing the sense of chance or fate that has brought the two people together. The final verse introduces a note of sadness or anxiety, perhaps due to the fear of losing this relationship or the feeling that it may not be based on genuine emotion. The singer worries that they will have to fake their happiness and hide behind a false smile if the relationship ends. Overall, the song expresses a mix of desire, hope, and uncertainty that will resonate with anyone who has experienced the ups and downs of a new relationship.
