1) Pond is an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia, formed in 2008. Initially featuring a revolving line-up, since 2016 the band has comprised
Jay Watson (also of Tame Impala), Nick Allbrook (ex-Tame Impala), Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry, and James Ireland.
The original idea of Pond was to be able to get anyone they wanted to play whatever they wanted in a collaborative musical project. Their first album was released soon after in January 2009, titled Psychedelic Mango, which contained many psychedelic rock and pop elements. Their second album, Corridors of Blissterday, was completed live with an eight piece band in five days, and released in June 2009. This led to the creation of their 2010 album, Frond, released in May 2010, featuring a heavier pop influence than previously heard from them.
After the breakthrough success of Innerspeaker, the debut album by Tame Impala, a band which shares three members with Pond, the album Beard, Wives, Denim was recorded in 2010 and later released to critical acclaim in March 2012.

The lyrics of Pond's song Colder Than Ice describe the temptation of addiction and the all-consuming nature of substance abuse. The repeating chorus of "C-C-C Colder than ice" emphasizes the powerful grip of addiction, likening it to something cold and unrelenting. The verses describe the allure of drugs and the physical sensations they produce. The line, "It's your hand on the fire," suggests a burning desire for the substance, while "the lure of the pipe" hints at the seductive quality of drug use.
The song also touches on the isolation that comes with addiction. The singer walks through the suburbs with "eyes down," avoiding connection with others. The repetition of "You know you want to" in the chorus highlights the internal struggle between the desire for the substance and the awareness of its harmful effects.
Overall, the lyrics of Colder Than Ice offer a poignant commentary on addiction and its destructive power, while also acknowledging the complex emotions and motivations behind substance abuse.

I love PONDs sound it's like a blend of past decades influence with some nice ass production
WWIflyingace62
Kevin Parker does all the production and mixing. More proof that whatever Kevin touches turns to pure gold
Lance Vance
@WWIflyingace62 He doesn't do all of it by himself, the rest of the band also co-produces/mixes with him. In the end they have final say on everything and deserve more credit because even without his help this would still be an amazing album.

@WWIflyingace62 Y'all give him way more credit than he deserves for Pond's music. 😆

I might love eighties music if it didn't all have that shitty drum reverb. This song rocks.

That synth progression in the intro that carries throughout the song....is so damn evocative. It just perfectly captures the vibe of this song...and video.
