1) Pond is an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia, formed in 2008. Initially featuring a revolving line-up, since 2016 the band has comprised
Jay Watson (also of Tame Impala), Nick Allbrook (ex-Tame Impala), Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry, and James Ireland.
The original idea of Pond was to be able to get anyone they wanted to play whatever they wanted in a collaborative musical project. Their first album was released soon after in January 2009, titled Psychedelic Mango, which contained many psychedelic rock and pop elements. Their second album, Corridors of Blissterday, was completed live with an eight piece band in five days, and released in June 2009. This led to the creation of their 2010 album, Frond, released in May 2010, featuring a heavier pop influence than previously heard from them.
After the breakthrough success of Innerspeaker, the debut album by Tame Impala, a band which shares three members with Pond, the album Beard, Wives, Denim was recorded in 2010 and later released to critical acclaim in March 2012.
Pond's seventh album, The Weather, was released in 2017 via Marathon Artists. Their ninth studio album, 9, was released in October 2021.

Fantastic Explosion Of Time
Pond Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
..and it fade away
Into a splendid design
When ...will never..
...riding the highways, going to watch over
When you got so different little types of touch
I don't wanna explode in time, no, no, no
I don't wanna explode in time, no, no, no (x3)
The lyrics to Pond's song "Fantastic Explosion Of Time" are packed with metaphors and vivid imagery that seem to depict a powerful and transformative experience. The line "fantastic explosion of time" suggests the idea of a moment when time seems to expand and become elastic, as if stretching out to infinity. This experience is further enhanced by the line "and it fade away," which implies that this moment is fleeting and ephemeral, like a burst of light that quickly disappears.
However, despite its fleeting nature, this "explosion of time" seems to be the catalyst for a "splendid design" that emerges from the chaos. This design could be interpreted as a new perspective or a fresh outlook on life, one that is more optimistic and hopeful. The imagery of "riding the highways, going to watch over" suggests a sense of freedom and exploration, as if the singer is embarking on a journey of self-discovery.
The final lines of the chorus, "I don't wanna explode in time, no, no, no" are striking in their contradiction. The idea of exploding suggests a release of pent-up energy or emotion, but the singer seems to be rejecting this possibility, perhaps because they fear the consequences of such an explosion. This could be interpreted as a warning against recklessness and impulsivity, a reminder to approach life with caution and mindfulness.
