1) Pond is an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia, formed in 2008. Initially featuring a revolving line-up, since 2016 the band has comprised
Jay Watson (also of Tame Impala), Nick Allbrook (ex-Tame Impala), Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry, and James Ireland.
The original idea of Pond was to be able to get anyone they wanted to play whatever they wanted in a collaborative musical project. Their first album was released soon after in January 2009, titled Psychedelic Mango, which contained many psychedelic rock and pop elements. Their second album, Corridors of Blissterday, was completed live with an eight piece band in five days, and released in June 2009. This led to the creation of their 2010 album, Frond, released in May 2010, featuring a heavier pop influence than previously heard from them.
After the breakthrough success of Innerspeaker, the debut album by Tame Impala, a band which shares three members with Pond, the album Beard, Wives, Denim was recorded in 2010 and later released to critical acclaim in March 2012.

Truly a sight for sore eyes
A lover of knots
Your favorite one was the cat's paw
Bound us into this lover's knot
Tangled and weaved till I can't move
Bronze into the trees
Emblazing fall
Burying underneath
Beautifully flawed two of a kind
Please loosen your ropes I can't seem to breath
Used to feel ok I could easily scrape away all the bad and all the gray I just can't keep up today
I start your note and start again crumpled failures abandoned
Recycle thoughts until they're frayed you'll misinterpret I am just
I agonize over the words half way through it just seems too
Cut out the parts that don't fit in and I'm back at the start again
That's it I quit
In Pond's song "Flawed," the lyrics describe someone who is beautifully flawed and a sight for sore eyes, with a love for knots and a particular affinity for the cat's paw. The lover's knot is mentioned, and the lyrics suggest the knot has bound the singer and their lover together in a tangled weave that leaves them unable to move. The song also features imagery of bronze being brandished into trees and fall being emblazed, burying something underneath.
"Flawed" explores self-doubt and the pressures of perfectionism. The singer feels overwhelmed and unable to keep up, struggling to scrape away the bad and gray they feel inside. The lyrics suggest that the singer is attempting to write a note or letter to their lover, but can't seem to get the words right. They recycle their thoughts until they're frayed, worrying their lover will misinterpret their meaning. The pressure to communicate perfectly leads the singer to cut out parts that don't fit, and they find themselves back at the start again. The final line, "that's it I quit," suggests they've given up trying to communicate altogether.
Overall, "Flawed" is a commentary on the impossible standards we set for ourselves and the impact it can have on our relationships. We long to be seen as beautiful and perfect, but reality is far messier than that. The knots we tie ourselves in often end up trapping us, and the harder we try to escape, the tighter they become. The song encourages us to embrace our flaws and imperfections, to recognize that they are a valuable part of who we are.
