Golden
Pond Lyrics

She's such a sweet thing yeah
Could have been anything that she wanted to be
I guess in her mother's eyes she'll always be

Golden and true could never do no wrong
Only there because others pulled her down
Fingers twist beads wringing out the prayers
From rosaries and metals that she

Always been the perfect son
Excelled at everything thing that he had been in
Was destined to till she got her hooks in him

Golden and true could never do no wrong
Only there because she had ruined him
Fingers twist beads wringing out the prayers
From rosaries and metals that she'd wear

Golden and true could never do no wrong
Only there because others pulled them down
Fingers twist beads wringing out the prayers
From rosaries and metals that she

She'd make a great nun yeah
No one's going to ruin her like they did them
She'll be my shining light when I reach the end

Golden and true could never do no wrong
Only there because others pulled them down

Fingers twist beads wringing out the prayers
From rosaries and metals that she

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Golden" by Pond provide a commentary on the pressures and expectations placed on individuals by society and their loved ones. The first part of the song refers to a woman who has always been regarded as "golden and true" and could have been anything she wanted to be, but is only where she is because others have pulled her down. This suggests that societal pressures and expectations have played a role in shaping her destiny, and that she may have not been given the freedom to explore different paths in life.

The second part of the song refers to a man who was once regarded as the "perfect son", excelling at everything he did until he met someone who "ruined him". The lyrics suggest that he too may have been pressured to conform to societal expectations and that this led to his downfall. The repeating chorus of "golden and true could never do no wrong" highlights the unrealistic expectations placed on individuals and the detrimental effects they can have.

The image of "fingers twist beads wringing out the prayers" suggests an attempt to find solace in religion and spirituality amidst this pressure, but the repetition of this image throughout the song suggests that it is not enough to counteract the negative effects of societal pressure.

Overall, "Golden" is a commentary on the ways in which societal pressures and expectations can shape an individual's destiny and lead to negative outcomes. The lyrics paint a picture of individuals struggling to find their place in the world amidst these pressures, highlighting the need for greater understanding and acceptance of individual differences.

Two film legends that made a perfect match for this gem. Fonda died eight months after the film's release but Hepburn kept working until 1994.
Henry was always a fountain of youth even in his 60s and early 70s, never looking his age until now. Henry's voice has even changed and nothing like it was for 40+ years. They both gave great performances.

Fonda is alive

@jackspry9736

RIP Henry Fonda (May 16, 1905 – August 12, 1982), aged 77
And
RIP Katherine Hepburn (May 12, 1907 – June 29, 2003), aged 96
You both will always be remembered as legends.

I remember watching this movie in Metairie, LA
at the Lakeside movie theater and I was only
thirteen at the time. Even though I was young at the
time, I still remember enjoying watching this video.
I thought it was beautiful and really down to Earth.

Such a beautiful movie. This San Diego native was 23 and living in Marietta Georgia that summer it came out. Can't remember the theatre but it was full. I remember really missing my Mom and Dad! LOL

@lauriehynes9938

A classic. One of my favorites.

On Golden Pond was filmed on Squam Lake, New Hampshire’s second largest but most beautiful lake. We boat there every year and it is easily has some of the most stunning scenery in all of New England!

What an inspirational film

@ellefirogeni4624

At last, though found in the past,
a proper voice announcing a movie ‘playing soon in a theatre near you’.
No drama, no highpitch soap opera of any kind, simple fine delivery with a touch of promise.
