1) Pond is an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia, formed in 2008. Initially featuring a revolving line-up, since 2016 the band has comprised
Jay Watson (also of Tame Impala), Nick Allbrook (ex-Tame Impala), Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry, and James Ireland.
The original idea of Pond was to be able to get anyone they wanted to play whatever they wanted in a collaborative musical project. Their first album was released soon after in January 2009, titled Psychedelic Mango, which contained many psychedelic rock and pop elements. Their second album, Corridors of Blissterday, was completed live with an eight piece band in five days, and released in June 2009. This led to the creation of their 2010 album, Frond, released in May 2010, featuring a heavier pop influence than previously heard from them.
After the breakthrough success of Innerspeaker, the debut album by Tame Impala, a band which shares three members with Pond, the album Beard, Wives, Denim was recorded in 2010 and later released to critical acclaim in March 2012.

Sunlight Cardigan
Pond Lyrics

Don't listen to the angels, man, they'll give you all of their problems
I can lift an iron manatee but my dreams are so heavy
If your love won't hold me up, my love will flatten me
But I have troubles that I can't shake
People smash bubbles, ooh, they wanna mine
But I have troubles that I can't shake
I still wear a sunlight cardigan the type that makes the sun my friend
Don't listen to the angels, man, they'll give you all of their problems
I can lift an iron manatee but my dreams are so heavy
If your love won't hold me up, my love will flatten me
But I have troubles that I can't shake
People smash bubbles, ooh, they wanna mine
But I have troubles that I can't shake
People smash bubbles, ooh
I still wear a sunlight cardigan the type that makes the sun my friend
Don't listen to the angels, man, they'll give you all of their problems
Don't listen to the angels, man, they'll give you all of their problems.
In "Sunlight Cardigan", Pond walks us through the joys and struggles of love and life, with a lot of whimsy and dark humor woven in. The first verse sets the mood, as the singer declares that despite everything, they still wear a "sunlight cardigan" - a metaphor for a sunny disposition, a positive attitude, and a kind of armor against the harshness of the world. The singer then warns against the dangers of listening to angels - perhaps a reference to societal pressure, religious dogma, or just the voices in our heads that tell us what we should or shouldn't do. The second half of the verse gets a bit more surreal, as the singer proclaims they can lift an iron manatee (a fictional creature that combines strength and vulnerability) but their dreams are heavy, which implies they are struggling to pursue their goals while carrying a lot of baggage. The last line is a paradoxical expression of how love can be both uplifting and crushing - if the love we receive is not supportive or nurturing, it can actually make us feel worse.
The chorus repeats the line "But I have troubles that I can't shake / People smash bubbles, ooh, they wanna mine" twice, emphasizing the frustration and vulnerability that comes with having personal issues that you can't seem to get rid of. The image of people smashing bubbles may suggest that the singer feels like their problems are invisible, fragile, and constantly under attack. In the second verse, the "sunlight cardigan" and the angel warning are repeated, but this time the singer adds a twist by replacing "my love will flatten me" with "my love will float me" - a sign that they still believe in the power of love to uplift and carry them, despite its potential pitfalls. The song ends on a repeating plea to reject the influence of angels and instead wear our own sunshine.
Overall, "Sunlight Cardigan" is a highly poetic and imaginative take on the themes of love, self-care, and personal struggles. Pond doesn't shy away from the dark side of these topics, but they also infuse the lyrics with humor, surreality, and quirkiness, making it a captivating and memorable listen.

SOOOO GOOD!!!! Frond is a spectacular album. This is my favorite tune off of it. I am surprised these guys don't have a more public following. Seems like a very niche following/community that like their stuff.
