1) Pond is an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia, formed in 2008. Initially featuring a revolving line-up, since 2016 the band has comprised
Jay Watson (also of Tame Impala), Nick Allbrook (ex-Tame Impala), Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry, and James Ireland.
The original idea of Pond was to be able to get anyone they wanted to play whatever they wanted in a collaborative musical project. Their first album was released soon after in January 2009, titled Psychedelic Mango, which contained many psychedelic rock and pop elements. Their second album, Corridors of Blissterday, was completed live with an eight piece band in five days, and released in June 2009. This led to the creation of their 2010 album, Frond, released in May 2010, featuring a heavier pop influence than previously heard from them.
After the breakthrough success of Innerspeaker, the debut album by Tame Impala, a band which shares three members with Pond, the album Beard, Wives, Denim was recorded in 2010 and later released to critical acclaim in March 2012.

Xanman
Pond Lyrics

And don't you understand, you were crying for your man
But it sure ain't tears for joy
When you gonna see that the man's not me?
Well, I'm barely a boy
Barely a boy
Xanman, won't you understand you're not crying for you Xanman?
At least until you lazy boy, you crazy boy
Back in the van with my head in my hands
And I whale like a broken toy
So I take my gills and forget how this feels
I'm barely a boy, barely a boy
Xanman, won't you understand you're not crying for you Xanman?
Xanman, won't you hold my hand, man?
At least until too lazy boy, made me crazy, yeah
I can't drop
Back in my van, boy, another thing
Until we reach our land
We'll wipe the memory, I've got eyes for my mind
Until we can smile, breathe and play
Breathe and play
Xanman, won't you understand you're not crying for you Xanman?
Xanman, shit, won't you hold my hand, man?
Xanman, won't you understand you're not crying for you Xanman?
Xanman, shit, won't you hold my hand, man?
Xanman, won't you understand you're not crying for you Xanman?
Xanman, shit, won't you hold my hand, man?
Xanman, won't you understand you're not crying for you Xanman?
Xanman, won't you hold my hand, man?
The song "Xanman" by Pond talks about the confusion and longing in a relationship. The main protagonist struggles to understand the emotions of his partner, Xanman, who is crying for her man, but the man is not the singer himself. He feels helpless and lost, just like a broken toy that cannot be fixed. Throughout the song, the singer asks Xanman to understand that he is not the one she is crying for and to hold his hand until he can feel better. However, he refers to himself as a barely a boy, which suggests that he is still growing up and has much to learn about relationships and emotions.
The chorus repeats the lines, "Xanman, won't you understand you're not crying for you Xanman? Xanman, won't you hold my hand, man?" which shows the singer's desperation for understanding and comfort. He acknowledges Xanman's pain but does not know how to help her or himself. The line "made me crazy" also suggests that the relationship has taken a toll on his mental health.
The lyrics of the song are open to interpretation, but it seems to touch upon themes like confusion, yearning, and introspection. It provokes questioning the complexities of relationships and emotions and the extent to which one can truly understand another person's feelings.

Damn Nick can sing! He sort of reminds me of a modern day Barrett, hope he doesn't meet the same end as Syd. Just discovered these guys through Tame Impala. I need some more bands like these in my music collection, anyone recommend me any other good bands like these guys?

This band is everything I once dug so much in the early Flaming Lips (Telepathic Surgery era) but they later failed to deliver--multiplied into an otherworldly dimension.
