Be Apart
Porches Lyrics

i leave the house
and now my body moves
it is so physical
it's got me so awake
the darkness hanging
black water by my side
cause i wanna be apart
i wanna be apart
i wanna be a part
of it all
i wait for it to come
i am so patient
and when it really does
i let it have me whole
cause i wanna be apart
i wanna be apart
i wanna be a part
of it all
In Porches's song Be Apart, the lyrics convey a desire to break free and become fully immersed in the world around us. The singer muses about leaving the house, feeling the physicality of their body, and how the darkness they encounter on their journey has a certain allure to it. As they venture out into the night, they almost seem to be seeking out some kind of sensory overload that will allow them to fully experience life. The repetition of the phrase, "I wanna be apart," hammers home this desire for immersion, breaking down the word "apart" to emphasize the concept of being a part of something bigger than oneself.
The lyrics also hint at a sense of anticipation and waiting, as the singer discusses being patient for something to happen and then letting it "have me whole." This sense of surrender is interesting in contrast to the earlier lyric about wanting to be "physical" and "a part of it all." It suggests that while the singer may be seeking this kind of immersive experience in life, they also understand the importance of letting go and allowing themselves to be fully consumed by it.
Overall, Be Apart is a song that seems to be about embracing the world around us, even if that means losing ourselves in it completely.

they try to feel it out
Other people try to understand what I am feeling
i leave the house
I go outside
and now my body moves
I am physically energized
it is so physical
The feeling is strongly physical
it's got me so awake
The feeling makes me very alert
the darkness hanging
The night is dark and enveloping
black water by my side
There is a body of water near me
i will go out tonight
I am going out tonight
cause i wanna be apart
Because I want to participate
i wanna be apart
I want to distinguish myself
i wanna be a part
I want to be included
of it all
In everything that's happening
i wait for it to come
I wait for the feeling to arise
i am so patient
I am willing to wait
and when it really does
And when the feeling truly arrives
i let it have me whole
I allow the feeling to consume me completely

noMoreCorporateBS first of all, i want to apologise for my earlier comment, I'm just a really big fan and i took offence where i shouldn't have.
"his writing doesn't convey that he truly FEELS the pain nor does it explore the depths and manifestations of it."
how is that a reason to think any less of someones writing? the fact that he does or does not convey a particular feeling cannot possibly take away from his work, that just doesn't make any sense. furthermore, you don't gotta have a massive vocabulary or write all flashy to be profound. thats why i think aaron's lyrics are so characteristic.
"What does a basketball in a bathtub, jars of milk, and a bunch of 20 somethings dressed like they're in a shoot for the Zara 2015 Fall lookbook have to do with the song?"
i think a basketball in a swimming pool/bathtub/waterbody is the theme they're going for with this album. it's the album cover. that shot is probably just a subliminal reinforcement of the fact. about the milk and clothes- its art. you don't need to be able to justify or explain it in point form to someone. i think thats kinda how art works.
you're in the right everywhere else i was just being a dick, my bad. but i really do think aaron is a remarkable songwriter and a living legend. in all honesty, I'm a bigger fan of his earlier work than the two new singles, and i was referring to that when i said "timeless works of art". I'm really eager to see what direction he's headed in with this album. seems like its more pop. i think this song may just be about him wanting to be accepted into the mainstream while also securing acceptance from his cult following for desiring so.
