Australia's Pork (80s)
A band called Pork operated in Brisbane, Australia in the early 1980s. One interesting feature was the "bleeps" from early model synthesizers. The band produced a handful of cassette tape recordings.
America's Pork (90s)
Another band called Pork formed in Austin, TX, USA in the mid-90s. The all-girl three-piece played stripped down punk with catchy melodies and off-kilter harmonies: the three shared vocal duties. Pork featured Dana Lee Smith on guitar, Edith Casimir on drums, and Mary Hattman on bass playing songs reminiscent of the White Stripes and stylistically similar to early Spoon and Sincola (both also from Austin). They released the album Strip in 1994 on New York's No. 6 Records. Strip was produced by Alejandro Escovedo.
Argentinean band: Pork (2000)
In 1995 the twins Cesar and Gaston Bar-rabia return to Argentina after their 3-year stay in Maryland, U.S, where they went to school, took guitar lessons, jammed with friends, and fell in love with music. What lured them into music had been at that early teenage stage, the outburst of the grunge scene along with Metallica, Pantera, and other rock groups from the 90’s. Not many people knew about these grunge bands in Argentina and both young guitarists were disappointed by the stuff radio played all day long. They thought Spanish sounded kind of weird over rock riffs. So, without ever having the intention of forming a band Cesar began writing songs, in English. To his surprise, his all time friend Mariano, whom he had rarely spoken to during that period in the U.S, had also gotten into the same sort of music, and showed enthusiasm about taking up guitar and accompanying him in the preparation of some songs. That same year they met David who had also started guitar lessons and because he happened to be Cesar’s classmate the 3 would end up jamming every once in a while, although there was no intention whatsoever of putting together a band. Not until 1997 when they met Ezequiel at school, a drummer. That’s how “Bluster” began, a grunge-like band with David on the bass, Mariano on guitar, and Cesar on guitar and vocals. By this time they were 16 years old. Bluster only got to record a demo and played about 15 gigs throughout their one-year existence. The results were acceptable but most of the members were sensing a lack of proficiency in the band’s performance, and the song writing relied mainly on Cesar who understood he could use some new and different ideas. Gaston was the most suitable candidate and the deal was: Cesar would quit his guitar playing, Gaston would join this new band as lead guitarist and would bring over with him a very talented 16-year old drummer: Pablo Torres. After 3 months the band had 15 songs, “Bloody Mary” on a demo and a name “PORK”. For a period of a year the band played gigs frequently but the fact that they were self- supported in every aspect made their way through very tough. And other problems regarding immaturity and organization culminated in the dissolution of the band. The separation was in good term and everyone knew the band would eventually get back together again some day. By the end of 2001 they did, but this time being 20 and 21 there was no longer room for excuses of any kind so they held on to the commitment deciding to really go for it. What came out of this reunion startled every member of the band. The chemistry had gone better and so had the music. They gave way to new rhythms and decided to mingle with their entire musical background giving place to songs like “Galaxia”, “In The Corner”, “Fresh From The Farm”, and “Hazardous Dangerous”. After a whole year of rearranging songs and long hours of rehearsal they were ready to record a demo featuring 4 songs that were presented in their first show in November 2002. The results were beyond expectations having sold by the first 10 days after the show about 200 copies of the demo. They were sold out! More and more fans started coming to their gigs drawn by PORK’s style that triggers all kinds of emotions and their versions of songs like Metallica’s “One”, “Master of Puppets” and their version of Sting’s “Englishman in New York” named “Latin Man in New York”. The band figured by June 2003 to record another demo with more songs. The results were even better, and today PORK receives hundreds of e-mails requesting demos and gigs. With nothing but great comments, a favorable buzz settled out there as a result of this good start. Nowadays, after several years playing along with hundreds of other bands both, national and international and selling thousands of demos their first album is being recorded in the “Del Cielito Records” under the command of Alejandro Taranto, a reknown producer. And the story is only beginning.

Bloody Mary
Pork Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sipping oil laughter goes on
Where is Mary? where has she gone?
I've fallen for her, hear the voices say:
You will never, you will never live!
Empty pockets, drops of her
Throat is dry (go drink some!)
Coins are gone (go steal some!)
Mary cries out: come on, drink my blood!
You will never, you will never live!
She's my love and she's my companion (and I cry)
Takes me places deep within me
Told me she works for a nearby club
That became my life
I'm ready to die for you
I actually came across her the last day
Everyone called her Mary, I just can't, no
Now that she's gone with another I get laid
Drinking up her essence vomiting, no
Never live!
You will never, you will never live!
She's my love and she's my companion (and I cry)
Takes me places deep within me
Told me she works for a nearby club
That became my life
I'm ready to die for you
The lyrics of Pork's song Bloody Mary tell the story of a man who is infatuated with a woman named Mary. He is willing to do anything for her, including stealing and drinking her blood. The lyrics suggest that Mary may be involved in some sort of dark and dangerous lifestyle, possibly working at a club where the man met her. Ultimately, Mary leaves the man for another, and he is left alone and brokenhearted.
The opening lines of the song suggest that the man has run out of money but is determined to keep drinking. The oil he is sipping could be a reference to some kind of intoxicating substance, such as alcohol or drugs. He is searching for Mary, whom he has fallen for, but with whom he can no longer connect. The voices telling him that he will never live could be interpreted as his own inner demons, warning him that his choices are taking him down a dangerous path.
As the song progresses, it becomes clearer that Mary is not just a normal love interest. The devil's dancing and drums in the man's head suggest a demonic influence, and Mary's cry to "drink my blood" takes on a literal and disturbing meaning. Despite all this, the man is still devoted to her, and she represents his whole life.
The final verse reveals that Mary has left him for someone else. The man is heartbroken, and drinking her essence only makes him physically ill. The repetition of the line "you will never, you will never live" indicates that the man's obsession with Mary has not only taken a toll on his emotional well-being but also on his physical health.
