In the song "Myself" by Post Malone, the singer reflects on his life experience of living a successful rockstar life. In the first two lines of the chorus, "It's what it is, it's how I live. All the places I've been," Post acknowledges that he is living his best life in the music industry but wishes that he had been able to be present for all of it. The third line expresses that he has made significant amounts of money and spent a lot, but he still can't get enough of the lifestyle. The phrase "Wish I could've been there myself" is repeated throughout the song as he regrets missing out on time spent away from home, experiences with friends and family, and life outside of a tour bus.

In the second verse, Post talks about the luxurious life of a famous musician with lines such as "Your second cousin lives in Orlando" and "People shoving shots down their damn throat." He juxtaposes it with the loneliness and isolation that comes with the lifestyle, as he turns down others' offers to party ("Some selling yes but I'm gonna say no"). All of this comes together to paint a picture of Post's bittersweet feelings about fame; he has everything he ever wanted but at a cost, and he'll always regret the moments that he missed.

Towards the end of the song, Post argues that despite the idolization of American dreams, the reality often falls short, with the lyrics "Everybody's sick of believin'...Oh, I'm sick of believing/ All of this American dreaming/ Oh, let's not give a fuck 'til/ Giving a fuck has no meaning." The final line of the song, "No, I can't get enough," reinforces the tension between his love for the lifestyle and his regret over missing out.
