The Man
Primal Fear Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I feel the oppression, every time that I fake
How time is changing what I am
I look in the mirror, I don't know what I see
Where is the man that I was been

Sometimes I feel
That the things that I love
Are the things that I hate
And sometimes I learn
That I'm torn up inside
And the man that I am
Is the man that I don't know

The silence inside me, quiet and deep
So loud in my ears, all those bleam
Excite is counting me, paralyzing my mind
High on the ground, I still fall

Sometimes I feel
That the things that I love
Are the things that I hate
And sometimes I learn
That I'm torn up inside
And the man that I am
Is the man that I don't know

Sometimes I feel
That the things that I love
Are the things that I hate
And sometimes I learn
That I'm torn up inside
And the man that I am
Is the man that I don't know

The silence, so quiet and deep

Overall Meaning

Primal Fear's song, "The Man", explores the internal struggles of a person who is trying to find their true identity. The lyrics express the feelings of oppression, confusion and being lost, while also acknowledging the pain of loving the things that the individual hates. The second verse describes the internal silence that this person is struggling with, the conflict between excitement and fear, and a feeling of falling. The chorus repeats the lines "Sometimes I feel that the things that I love are the things that I hate" and "the man that I am is the man that I don't know", emphasizing the internal conflict within the singer.

El Hombre (Que No Conozco)

Yo siento la opresion
Cada vez que pienso
Como el tiempo ha cambiado
Lo que soy

Miro en el espejo
No se a quien veo
Donde esta el hombre
Que una vez fui

Aveces siento
Que las cosas que amo
Son las cosas que odio
Y aveces se
Que estoy roto por dentro
Y el hombre que soy
Es un hombre que no conozco

Un silencio en mi interior
Tranquilo y profundo
Tan ruidoso que mis oidos
Casi sangran

La ansiedad me esta acechando
Paralizando mi mente
Manteniendome en el suelo
Todavia me caigo

Aveces siento
Que las cosas que amo
Son las cosas que odio
Y aveces se
Que estoy roto por dentro
Y el hombre que soy
Es un hombre que no conozco.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if the music is good or you just have nice memories and listened to it so many times it grew on you.. But i think The Man, Fighting the Darkness and a few others on this album are really very well written, amazingly performed pieces of art.

All the more compared to the generic heavy metal they play now.

I may not like all the music Primal Fear puts out (I'm not a fan of this song in a musical way right now, first time listening to it, but I have a feeling that it will grow on me), but their lyrics are really top notch, they connect in a personal way.
