Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Babylon" by Prince Ital Joe feat. Marky Mark, discusses the struggles of living in Babylon, a common biblical reference to describe a place of oppression and sin. The opening lines, "Run Babylon, a free run" emphasize the desperation and urgency to escape the oppressive environment. Prince Ital Joe acknowledges the power of Jah (God) as his helper and notes the destruction caused by the wicked. The lyrics suggest that one of the reasons behind this destruction is the element which has destroyed the population leading to a need for unification. The repetition of the line, "Living in Babylon" highlights the frustrating and oppressive nature of living in such a place. The violent children full of hunger are a representation of the decaying society in which they live.

Marky Mark's verse adds to the overall message of the song expressing the need to rebel against the bourgeoisie and the desire to prove themselves. The lyrics are reflective of a working-class struggle for recognition and a sense of identity. The use of Irish references and the mention of the leprechauns is a nod to the Irish-American identity and the culture they represent. The overall sentiment of the lyrics is one of rebellion against authority and oppression.

Overall, "Babylon" is a song that expresses the frustration of living in a society plagued by poverty, violence, and oppression, and the need for people to unite and fight against it.

One of the best Eurodance tracks out there... RIP Prince Ital Joe... I miss this group.. so much love and positive energy. Collab reaggae, rap and dance.. makes this a superb Eurodance song I think.

It's unique! It's Eurodance at its best. While the reaggae singer is missed deeply, yet his music together with Marky Mark shouldn’t be forgotten at all. His biggest achievement is 1st place in Germany with the song titled United. But Babylon is a great tune that too few put into their hearts.

Babylon brings the best out of dance dance music! While Prince Ita Joe is no more, Marky Mark is still alive. Including being a Eurodance music maker. This guy is known from big budget action oriented movies, such as Planet of the Apes from 2001 and The Italian Job from 2003.

Eurodance makes people Happy! Lets move it onwards!

Absolutely.
And I feel sad when Mark Wahlberg says his history as Marky Mark makes him feel embarrassed. He and Prince Ital Joe (R.I.P.) were legend!
