Crossroads
Prince Mafukidze Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

For I’ve reached the end of the road
Crossroads of my life
Take over Lord,
I can’t carry on no more
Better lay my burdens down
Take over Lord, carry me through
I used to think that on my own
I could make it all alone
Take over Lord,
I have hurt so many people
I have let my mother down
Take over Lord, carry me through

Carry me I’m at the crossroads
Carry me I’m at the crossroads
Carry me through
Carry me I’m at the crossroads
Carry me I’m at the crossroads
Carry me through

There are races never run
Battles never won
Take over Lord, yea…eh
I was fighting my own war
Did not know it had been won
Take over Lord, carry me through
So now I lay my arms down
I cannot fight this fight no more
Take over Lord,
I am sorry I have failed
Please let me try again
Take over Lord, carry me through

Carry me, I’m at the crossroads
Carry me, I’m at the crossroads
Carry me through
Carry me, I’m at the crossroads

Carry me, I’m at the crossroads
Carry me through

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Prince Mafukidze's song "Crossroads" speak of a person who has come to the end of the road and the crossroads of their life. The singer is reaching out to God, asking Him to take over and carry them through because they can no longer carry on. The singer admits that they used to think that they could make it all alone without God, but they have come to realize that they have hurt so many people, including their own mother. They are ready to lay down their burdens and let God take control.

The chorus repeats the plea for God to carry the singer through the crossroads that they are facing. The singer recognizes that there are battles that have never been won and races that have never been run. They have been fighting their own war, not realizing that it had already been won. The singer decides to lay down their arms and surrender because they cannot fight the fight anymore. They apologize for failing and ask for another chance, asking God to carry them through once again.

Overall, the song speaks of a person who has come to a realization that they cannot make it on their own and need God's guidance to carry them through the challenges of life. It is a humble plea for mercy and help in finding the right path forward.

I'm glad I finally found this song.. I remembered just the chorus and I would sing it when I went through trauma of being involved in an almost fatal car accident and being struck by lighting within the space of three months.. God saw me through!

@clarandlovu3280

When my grandfather passed away I could not go for his burial. A few months after his death I went kumusha to see where he was buried and as I returned from graveyard this song was playing in my grandma's lounge. I just fell on the door and wept bitterly. But God has carried me through since then.❀️
