Halo
Pro-Pain Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hear the sounds of the heart, beating like a war drum right from the start.
We do our time every day, working like slaves for the minimum wage.
Yeah, that's as good as it gets, cause for regular Joe the stage was set and right from the get go Joe was a kindred spirit to the typical blokes who candy coated the best years of their lives with the lies they told.
Then they flocked like geese to the water hole for their halo, fot for popes and kings.
What do they know.
I assume, many things.
More than we know.
So wherever you go wear the halo.
From the land to the sea, you aspire to get a better halo than me and so you strive for the top of the company ladder but the rungs never stop.
Higher and higher you go, but never get it.
For you it's vital to show you don't sweat it.
Now your proverbial crown awaits, I hope that it fits you, you can't take it with you.
They candy coated the best years of your life with the lies they told.
Then you flocked like sheep to the grassy knoll for your halo, fit for popes and kings.
What do they know.
I assume, many things.
More than we know.
So wherever you go wear the halo.
Hey, yo.
To the fascist elite, where's your halo.

To the punks on the street, show your halo.
So, when and if we meet, wear the halo.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Pro-Pain’s song Halo speak about the struggles of everyday life, and the harsh realities of the workforce. The song opens by depicting the sounds of the heart beating like a war drum- representing the constant fight for survival. The verses talk about how people work like slaves every day for minimum wage, striving for their place on the company ladder, never feeling satisfied. The chorus encourages listeners to wear their “halo”- a metaphor used to describe a sense of pride in the face of adversity.

As the song progresses, the lyrics become more pointed, discussing how society’s norms are designed to keep people down- reinforcing a system that’s rigged against them. At the same time, the chorus encourages listeners to aspire to a better life and take pride in their triumphs. Throughout the song, the image of the halo serves as a symbol of personal responsibility and self-determination.

In a larger sense, Halo is a call to arms for the marginalized, urging them to push beyond the obstacles in their lives with dignity and pride. It speaks to the idea that despite everything set against them, people can rise to the top if they work hard enough and stay true to their beliefs.

Been a fan for nearly 2 decades. I know when I discussed this album with Gary he said that it's one of his least favorite due to the guitar mixing but god damn this album embodies everything that tugs at my chest when I think about being a Pro-pain fan. Soundtrack to our lives!

@adrianfiabane5608

Not really. What comes along in a good shape aka quality, does not run on quantity purposes, it's run by and for; heart and mind. 😊
Only what's rated can be underrated: these guys are unique and not listed, they are being held as "never ever mention them"...because it might be the end of pop. 😂 greetings 🌹🍀🤟
