Unfortunately for Prof, thereβs an underlying seriousness to his lyrics that he tries his hardest to cover with layer upon layer of party-perfect beats and rhymes. Growing up on the South Side of Minneapolis, Prof matured in step with the local hip-hop scene. In his 24 years, heβs seen some shit that canβt help but escape from his memory and into his songs, lending his lines the kind of wisdom that can only be born on hard city streets. He started free styling in eighth grade and, although he likes to have fun with his music, the swiftness of his rise to local fame shows how seriously he regards his rap career.
A rowdy young buck who loves a good time, Prof wants his music to inspire others to party it up with him. In a world where credibility is currency, Prof sticks a middle finger to those who feel hip-hop should be straight-faced and serious.
βEveryoneβs trying to be a preacher or a politicianβ telling you how to live your life,β he says. βIβm not running for Senate. Iβm doing this for fun and I donβt watch my mouth.β
Profβs debut solo album, Project Gampo, definitely made a lasting impression on local music critics and hip-hop heads. βProf is wall-to-wall here in all his glory, with clever one-liners out the a**, hyperactive and delicious vocab spills popped like collars- picture a supreme smarta** with gorilla swagger and a mouth as fast as his mindβ¦ Point blank, this kidβs got more flavor and flow than all five of your favorite MCs combined.β (City Pages, May 12, 2008)

And that's the story. Aye-yeah!
Hey, give me one small shot,
See that girl over there looking like a snob?
She look like a little, wealthy angel,
I'll impress her with my Gampo talk
I say my name, she says hers too
She flip me the bird and her friends laugh like it's cool, yeah
Man I swear to God, I'll be as rich as you,
I just need a little time
Don't you be conceited, even though you're cute
I can make you change your mind
She treats me, like a punk,
If I knew any better, I would say she's a cunt
If I knew any better,
I would say she's a manipulating bitch-of-a-witch with some boobs in the front.
She smiles well, you can tell her friends.
I think I'm in love with this girl, I'm saying oooooooo
I want to see her every single day,
She looking at me like I'm dumb, but I really wanna walk her home
Her daddy say my money ain't long, ain't long, ain't long, long enough\
Say oooo girl, do you think I'm some sort of fool girl? Hey-yeah!\
Where ever she go,
I'mma be right on her toes, that's my darling\
Baby looking good and if I think about the way that I could impress her I would\
Like if I started lifting weights,
Or if I beat a bully up, I think that that is what is up\
I could make money selling drugs,
And just like her daddy, I'll be ballin'\
But that's quite a pipe-dream\
Pretty sure that this little itty-bitty,
Evil little slut don't even slightly like me\
I'm slightly smarter, think she's slightly retarded\
And she swung and lightly slapped me when I slightly farted\
She's super, super tan. Me? I'm a clever young hooligan\
I got the swagger no matter what mood I'm in\
How could she not understand how cool I am?\
She acting sassy because I ain't got no dollars\
I swear I'll be rich and famous then come back and call her\
The song "Lucky" by Prof tells the story of a poor boy who is trying to impress a rich girl who initially treats him like a punk. The boy is infatuated with the girl despite her condescending attitude towards him. He believes that once he becomes rich, she will change her mind about him. However, he is also aware of the reality of his current status and makes pipe-dreams about selling drugs and starting to pump iron to impress her. The lyrics very vividly demonstrate the boy's desperation to win her over despite the girl's manipulative and uncaring behavior towards him.
The song can be interpreted as a commentary on the societal divides between the wealthy and the poor. The lyrics highlight the inequality and the sense of entitlement that comes with being rich. The girl in the song is portrayed as someone who views the boy with contempt simply because of his economic class. The boy, in turn, is shown as being desperate to change his station in life in order to win her over. These societal struggles are further reflected in the boy's pipe-dreams of selling drugs for wealth as an alternative to hard work and perseverance.
Overall, "Lucky" is a powerful song that speaks to the universal desire to be loved and accepted regardless of one's economic status. It is both a reflection on the reality of materialism and social inequality while demonstrating the power of self-belief and the will to succeed.

This song was so far ahead of it's time, it still may be. Hell, the whole album is from future aliens. It feels weird to call this old school when it feels so right now every time I hear it.
