Unfortunately for Prof, there’s an underlying seriousness to his lyrics that he tries his hardest to cover with layer upon layer of party-perfect beats and rhymes. Growing up on the South Side of Minneapolis, Prof matured in step with the local hip-hop scene. In his 24 years, he’s seen some shit that can’t help but escape from his memory and into his songs, lending his lines the kind of wisdom that can only be born on hard city streets. He started free styling in eighth grade and, although he likes to have fun with his music, the swiftness of his rise to local fame shows how seriously he regards his rap career.
A rowdy young buck who loves a good time, Prof wants his music to inspire others to party it up with him. In a world where credibility is currency, Prof sticks a middle finger to those who feel hip-hop should be straight-faced and serious.
“Everyone’s trying to be a preacher or a politician— telling you how to live your life,” he says. “I’m not running for Senate. I’m doing this for fun and I don’t watch my mouth.”
Prof’s debut solo album, Project Gampo, definitely made a lasting impression on local music critics and hip-hop heads. “Prof is wall-to-wall here in all his glory, with clever one-liners out the a**, hyperactive and delicious vocab spills popped like collars- picture a supreme smarta** with gorilla swagger and a mouth as fast as his mind… Point blank, this kid’s got more flavor and flow than all five of your favorite MCs combined.” (City Pages, May 12, 2008)
Motel
Prof Lyrics

Ain't good 'nuff to fuck in?
It's not like we're in love ohhh Alright
What's the difference when your daddy says
That you shouldn't trust him
And about how I know you like it rough? Aww
No need to play around me
So what I'm a wild boy, everybody knows it
Ohhhh oh i'ma make it worth your time if
You walk through that door
A bed is a bed is a bed I'll put it down raw
A used love is the best love mama
Love me like a motel, do me long time
Hey, yea, yea love me like a motel
But leave the curtains open darling
Hey, yea, yea love me like a motel
But treat me right I got some miles on me
You're too pretty to be milling around
And making some small talk
Girl, Tell me what you like and
Don't you leave out a detail
We get better with time don't
You set the alarm clock
You know you'll be wake all night, hey
I ain't looking for a new car i need
A woman that will run red lights
I love it how you're so imperfect
Swear to God we match on sight
We get our hands so dirty
It's part of getting by
We will be new together, love
Me like a motel, fuck me long time
Hey, yea, yea love me like a motel
But leave the curtains open darling
Hey, yea, yea love me like a motel
But treat me right I got some miles on me
We don't have to be lonely
We can get the job done
We don't have to be lonely
Just touch me girl I'm right here
We don't have to be lonely, whoaa
The song is called "Motel" which can be interpreted as a place of temporary pleasure, where the singer is inviting his sexual partner to not be ashamed of being in such a place. The lyrics suggest that there is no need to pretend that the motel room is not good enough, as it is just a place where they can indulge in their desires. They are not in love, and the singer acknowledges that fact, but still wants to make their time together worth it. He goes on to say that he knows what she likes and wants her to be specific, indicating that he wants to please her physically.
The lines "love me like a motel, do me long time" can be seen as a reference to the sexual act being a transaction, just like the way a motel room is rented for a certain amount of time. The singer continues with "leave the curtains open darling/ But treat me right I got some miles on me", implying that he is not ashamed of his sexual desires but he still has feelings and needs to be respected. The line "just touch me girl I'm right here" suggests that the physical act is all that's important in the moment but there's a possibility of something more meaningful happening in the future.
Overall, the song Motel is about indulging in sexual desires in a motel room, acknowledging the temporary nature of the situation, and also recognizing the need for respect and communication between partners.
