He did his B.A. in Sanskrit from the Gurukul Kangri Vishvavidyalaya, Haridwar. He then shifted to Delhi for further studies and did his M.A. in both Hindi and Sanskrit from Delhi University. Still not satisfied, he enrolled for M. Phil in Sanskrit from Delhi University. During his studies, he has had the good fortune of learning under the tutelage of Sanskrit stalwarts like Pt. Dharmadeva Vidyamartanda, a Sanskrit scholar well versed in 13 Indian and foreign languages.
As far as his training in music is concerned, Pt. Ganesh Vidyalankar has done his "Sangeet Shiromani" (equivalent to B.A.) from Delhi University and his "Sangeet Visharad" (equivalent to M.A.) from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.
