Pulley's debut, Esteem Driven Engine, was released in 1996 by Epitaph. Riddle joined No Use for a Name full-time soon afterwards and was replaced by Tyler Rebbe. Follow-ups included 60 Cycle Hum in 1997 and their eponymous third album in 1999.
They also released Together Again for the First Time (after the death of Jim Cherry) and Matters, both showing their disillusionment with the aging out of the 'old' scene.

Pulley Lyrics

And I've seen the sun go down.
Played my share of dues,
Yet you still want to put me down..
Started on the bottom tell me
Why I feel here again.
It was at my expense, now you're cashing in.
Make way for the boys in your town today,
Look up on the wall,
They'll have some shirts for sale.
Another week has passed
Can you keep up with the brand new scene,
The music's changing
With the constant tapping of my feet.
Play it faster, play it slower,
You still don't know,
The music's not so important to you,
It's what you're makin' off the show.
Starting from the bottom again.
In Pulley's song Cashed In, the singer acknowledges the hard work they have put in - they've walked miles, played dues, and started from the bottom. Yet despite this, they are still being put down by others. The singer questions why they feel like they are back at the bottom again, and reveals that it was at their own expense that others are now cashing in. The song then takes a jab at the music industry as a whole, criticizing the focus on profits over the actual music. The boys in town are digging in their pockets and selling shirts, while the music is changing not for the better but because of the need to keep up with the new scene. The constant tapping of feet is symbolic of the rushing and frenetic pace of the industry, with people not even taking the time to appreciate the music. The singer feels frustrated and disillusioned, starting back from the bottom and feeling like they are not being given the respect they deserve.
Ultimately, this is a song about the music industry and the frustrations of being a musician. The singer is tired of the constant pressure to keep up with the changing scene and the focus on making money rather than creating meaningful music. They are frustrated by those who put them down despite their hard work, and feel like they are back at the bottom again.

Was going through the old punk-o-ramas for nostalgia and I got goosebumps when I heard this. It has been 20 years. I dropped my kids off at high school and screamed this at the top of my lungs.
Charles Dansereau-Mรฉnard
I saw Pulley in concert 3 days ago! (September 16th 2022) They fucking rocked ๐๐ (and even played a bit of Ten Foot Pole, for even more nostalgia haha!)
Trash Panda
Yes the intro is AMAZING!!!!!!

This is nuts. I am absolutely dumbfounded how I missed that one of my favorite and memorable bands, Ten Foot Pole didnโt exactly disappear as I once thought after two genius albums, Rev and Swill. Radinsky just reformed a new band that 25 years later, I guess I can finally keep listening to Ten Foot Pulley ;) shame I didnโt give Pulley a fair shot in 95 when I was buying NOFX, Bad Religion, Rancid, Lagwagon, Pennywise, etc., when it would have sunk deeper in my soul. But will be listening to every morsel of Pulley I can get my hands on thatโll keep me busy for the next few years. :) ...along with a few other Epitaph bands I didnโt give a fair shot to in the 90s
toadrips
If Iโm not mistaken, 10 ft โfiredโ Radinsky because he was pitching in Major League Baseball while they wanted to tour and โcash inโ on that 90s resurgence of punk rock. I love Radinsky from his Scared Straight days. When I I first heard this song, I took it as a big โF youโ to the 10ft guys. Iโve been a Pulley fan ever since ๐ค๐ผ
Synax Four
I would give anything to go back to these amazing days.

Possibly the greatest song ever written. Two and a bit minutes of pure awesomeness.

Agreed!
Serpico's Beard
Perfect melodic punk, the drums sound perfect :) Haven't heard this in years!
Justin Peters
Such a great band that didnโt get known outside of people totally into the genre. This song hooked me on Pulley (after Rev.)
