Pulley's debut, Esteem Driven Engine, was released in 1996 by Epitaph. Riddle joined No Use for a Name full-time soon afterwards and was replaced by Tyler Rebbe. Follow-ups included 60 Cycle Hum in 1997 and their eponymous third album in 1999.
They also released Together Again for the First Time (after the death of Jim Cherry) and Matters, both showing their disillusionment with the aging out of the 'old' scene.

I'm trying to come home thoughts of
You are always on my mind a runaway
From problems my excuse when I am there
You roll over once again I'm gone I'm old
It's plain to see a life of tragedy save
It for later that's what we always said what
Of the time that we once shared you never
Seemed to be so concerned story goes like
This you say I'm almost never there independent
Is what you've always want an arm to hold on
Someone to sleep next to in the night rolling
Over once again I'm gone look through the
Backlog and index of thoughts this time
It won't get to me.
In Pulley's song "Gone", the singer is describing his struggles with commitment and how his fear of responsibility is causing him to run away from his problems. He talks about how thoughts of his loved one are always on his mind, and how he wishes he could come home, but he just can't seem to follow through. He admits that his tendency to run away from his problems has caused him to become old before his time, and that his life has become a tragedy as a result.
He talks about a conversation that he and his loved one had about saving their problems for later, but questions what good that will do for them. He tries to paint a picture of the time they spent together, but his loved one doesn't seem to be concerned. The singer admits that his loved one has always wanted to be independent, but at the same time, wants somebody to hold onto and sleep next to.
The chorus talks about how the singer's loved one wakes up to find that he's gone again, and how he's looking through the backlog and index of his thoughts, hoping that this time he'll be able to overcome his fear of commitment and stay.
Overall, "Gone" is a poignant song that speaks to the struggles of someone who is dealing with a fear of committing to a relationship. The lyrics are full of emotion and raw honesty, making it a relatable and powerful song for anyone who has ever struggled with the same issues.
