call me stupid call me crazy call me what you will i don't write this music with intent to pay my bills another cardboard cutout brand we all sound the same guess i'm just a hypocrite for living out my dreams may not make a difference not trying to make you see may not make no sense to you but oh it does to me when it's all been said and done know that i had fun take it to the grave with me this music still lives on what can i say that i haven't said before not afraid to be mistaken not afraid to try not afraid to be uncertain not afraid to die when the words stop coming out the music finally stopped pound my head against the wall my bubble has been popped lost the vibe the fluid feel the ink dried up my pen picked apart there's nothing left will it come back again now it's all been said and done know that i had fun going to the grave with me this music still lives on to tell the tale of a broken man i just can't find the words my story goes unheard the tale of a broken man broken!

Overall Meaning

In "Hooray for Me," Pulley critiques the homogenization of music and being forced into making music for commercial gain. The lyrics reject the idea of being just another interchangeable musician that sounds the same as everyone else. The singer admits to being a hypocrite for living out their dreams in the music industry while simultaneously criticizing it. However, they assert that the music they create, despite not making a difference or making sense to others, is important to them and they will take it with them to the grave. The song transitions to a section where the singer talks about losing steam and creative energy. They express frustration with writer's block and being unable to find the words to tell their story. The song ultimately ends on a note of brokenness, maintaining that their story will go untold.

The lyrics of "Hooray for Me" are highly critical of the music industry, and Pulley often uses their music to express political and social opinions. The band itself has a long history of political activism, and the song reflects the band's desire to stay true to themselves, rather than making music solely for commercial purposes.

One of the best punk bands in history and I've heard them all. Incredibly underrated.

Rod Burkholz

Radikowski’s voice is so epic for punk music. Pulley (and earlier TenFootPole) deserve to be in the same conversation as Bad Religion, NOFX, Descendents, etc. They are top 5 punk bands imho.

driftke70

Nofx and others havent lasted the test of time. Bad Religion has some albums like process of belief that have stood the test of time very well but not all their music. I still routinely listen to all pulley and i think its gotten better with age. One for tye ages. I think bands like pulley, zero down, no fun at all, guttermouth etc are true punk bands and musicians. Groups like nofx are stage acts.

Dr Doctor

"I don't write this music with intent to pay my bills" Pulley was so fucking good... so underrated in this scene.
