1. Pullovers were a band formed in São Paulo, Brazil in 1999. Led by Luiz Venâncio, the band initially performed songs in English, featuring distorted guitars and lively beats. Their debut album, titled "Pullovers Can't Play Covers," was produced by Adriano Cintra, a former member of CSS.
With their collaboration with actress and model Geanine Marques on the album "Carniça," the band gained recognition. However, it was their 2009 release, "Tudo Que Eu Sempre Sonhei" (Everything I've Always Dreamed Of), that brought them widespread acclaim. Departing from their earlier style, the album featured songs inspired by the urban environment of São Paulo, with a shift towards Portuguese lyrics and a different musical approach. It received critical acclaim and was recognized as one of the best independent albums of 2009 by certain media outlets.
The band disbanded in the same year of their breakthrough album's release. Following the breakup, Luiz Venâncio embarked on a new project called "O Cantor Mudo e a Sonora Vaia" in 2013. The Pullovers' legacy remains tied to their energetic performances, distorted guitars, and their experimentation with language and musical styles.
On June 8th in 2023 the Band unexpectedly came back with a new single titled: "Trabalhar na MTV" (Work at MTV) in collaboration with another Indie producer named "Perdido".
2. Pullovers were a British post-punk band based in York, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Active during the late 1970s and early 1980s, the band consisted of Dave Astley on lead vocals, Paul Carroll on guitar, Zeph Stewart on guitar, Mick Stewart on drums, and Jock Marston on bass and vocals. The band released a single titled "Peter Pan Pill / Spare Part Surgery" on Supermusic Record Co. in 1980. However, shortly after the release, Pullovers disbanded, marking the end of their brief musical journey.

Todo mês, do salário vai metade pro inglês,
E pra sua faculdade, tão sonhada de contabilidade
Que ela fez de sonho, realidade...
Mas talvez só a força de vontade não tenha levado à
felicidade
Porque a luz e o calor dependem do amor, isso ela não
entendeu
Mais no metrô... alguém chamou... e ela sorriu,
gelou...
Quantas leis, probabilidades, planos ela fez...
Pros futuros meses, anos...
Olhem só vocês, mas que ledo engano,
Naquela vez, só o doce olhar de um mano,
Já desfez tudo de cartesiano que havia no coração
suburbano de Marinês...
The song "Marinês" by Pullovers is a story of a woman named Marinês who is 23 years old and works as an accountant. She wears a sweater all summer, wakes up at 6 am, and punches in at 7 am. Her computer greets her boss every morning when he logs in, and he's smitten with her. Despite being from the east side of town, Marinês still exudes charm and is valued greatly by her employer. She works hard and sacrifices half of her salary to pay for her accounting degree, a dream she turned into a reality. However, Pullovers indicates that perhaps her willpower alone hasn't led her to true happiness.
The chorus highlights the fact that Marinês might not understand that love is what brings warmth and light to life. One day on the metro, someone calls out to Marinês, and she smiles but also freezes. Pullovers suggests that Marinês has made countless plans for her future, analyzing the odds and devising a path forward, but ultimately, all those plans are shattered by a single, sweet glance from a guy. The passion she once had for her work and studies dissolved in the affection of a man, leaving her heart once rooted in practicality now uncertain and bewildered.

It already undid all the Cartesian thinking that existed in suburban Marinês' heart
