One of the few good memories I have of my dad is when I had just bought my first car, shortly after he and my mom got divorced. I was driving him across town just to show off how proud I was of this vehicle. All of a sudden, Jungle Boogie came on the radio, and I looked at him and said "So tell me again about the hash bars." We then re-enacted the entire car ride dialogue with me as Jules and him as Vincent, and by the time we were done, I had to pull over because we were both laughing so hard, I couldn't focus on the road.

Everything he says about Amsterdam is 100% true, except that the hash bars are actually called "coffeeshops". Quentin Tarantino lived in Amsterdam for years before he became famous so he knows all about us drowning our fries in mayonaise. =D

Did he now? I thought he worked in a video rental store in Manhattan Beach for years. He may have stayed in Amsterdam for a long holiday - many directors do that to find inspiration - but I very much doubt he lived there for years. Definitely not before he became famous anyway.

"Quentin Tarantino lived in Amsterdam for years." Your words. For years . Reservoir Dogs was released in late 92 and the first scene for Pulp Fiction was shot on September 20, 1993. That doesn't include the time he spent meeting the financiers and casting the actors he wanted in the movie. Pre-production takes time too you know. It seems he couldn't even have stayed there for a whole year, which is why "several months " would have been more appropriate. Like I previously said he certainly didn't live there for years (which implies several years or three at the very least).

The best thing about this scene is the fact that Google thinks its a song. Type in "Royale with Cheese" and it comes up as a standalone song performed by John and Samuel and credits Quentin Tarantino as the songwriter. And lists the full transcript of the dialog as the "lyrics". I mean Google's not wrong. This scene is an absolute vibe. Crank this jam up!
