They released their self-titled debut on Arista later that year and then began a touring schedule that took them out with bands like Godsmack, Fuel, and even landed them on Ozzfest.
They have had several successful singles at alternative radio, including “Handslide”, “Caught My Mind” and “Lefty”. When Clive Davis was driven out of Arista in 2000, Pushmonkey left as well. In 2001, the band released El Bitché, which was well received at radio, in the press, and by their fans, now legion.
And then, as the planets and stars came together – it was the Year of the Monkey.

Rescue Me
Pushmonkey Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Even though I hate to say
I'm not understanding me
Chorus:
I need someone to rescue me.
When I get a little bit crazy,
I need to you to save me from myself.
When I go a little too far,
I just want to be sure that you're the only one to save me from myself
No words control
You're not
Chorus
When I get a little bit crazy
When I go a little bit too far
I come to you
Hey can you see the warning signs?
Can you help me recognize
Where it's me
Chorus
Save me from myself
Save me from myself
Save me from myself
The song "Rescue Me" by Pushmonkey speaks of the need for someone to save the singer from their own self-destructive tendencies. The lyrics plead for help, recognizing that they are unable to understand themselves and that they need someone to rescue them when they get a little bit crazy or go too far. The chorus reiterates this need for rescue, emphasizing the fact that the singer wants this rescuer to be the only one to save them from themselves. The lyrics suggest that the singer has no control over their actions and that they need someone to help them recognize the warning signs when they are about to go too far.
The repetition of the phrase "save me from myself" highlights the internal struggle that the singer is going through, as they recognize that they are their own worst enemy. The song suggests that the singer is aware of their own self-destructive tendencies but is unable to take control of them without outside help.
Overall, "Rescue Me" is a plea for help from someone who recognizes that they need assistance in controlling their own actions. The lyrics are raw and emotional, reflecting the intensity of the singer's struggle.
