The group formed in 2008 when Jones began playing Brooklyn venues to practice guitar, with the help of Dobson. They were then joined by Popper, and the three began working together to expand creatively. Some of the group's early shows were in front of friends and done just for fun as they covered songs they loved.[3] In an interview with The Boston Globe published July 17, 2014, Jones describes the first shows as "never stressful because it was loose and nobody was coming but our friends." Dobson adds, "We were just playing shows and coming together as our schedules went along. It was just about playing music and not having an agenda of any kind

Oh, you don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be me
Hey, you, don't tell me what to do
Oh, you don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be free
Oh, you don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be my friend
Hey, you! Get out of my bed!
Oh, you don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be my man
Oh, you don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be me
Oh, you don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be
You don't know what it means to be me
The lyrics of Puss N Boots' "Don't Know What It Means" reflects the frustration of the singer towards someone who is trying to control, judge, or manipulate her. The song starts with a demand to get out of her shoes, asking the person to stop trying to walk in her own footsteps and live her life for her. The next few lines continue with a similar sentiment, emphasizing an inherent sense of individuality and freedom. The chorus repeats the phrase "You don't know what it means to be me," emphasizing the unique struggles and experiences that only the singer can truly understand.
The second verse is more personal, with the singer demanding the person to get out of her head and her bed. Here, the singer highlights the importance of independence and autonomy, especially in matters of personal relationships. The repetition of the chorus underscores the strong theme of identity and individuality that runs throughout the song.

What a great female band with a Johnny Cash sound. Gotta love it. Who knew Norah Jones could play guitar
David Andriani
She said in an interview she started learning guitar about 2 years ago. According to ms Jones, she and ms Dobson started learning guitar together and this band formed as a result. That's what I read, anyway.
