Pop!
Q Strange Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If you hearin′ what I'm spittin′ then you diggin' in the darkness
For gothic hard shit, motherfuck the pop charts bitch
The concerts and the masses can't handle the masters
Of wicked shit! Cause we the underground bastards
Of Hip Hop, like grip locks and sick parts in ziplocs
And keep punchin′ each other when this brutal mosh pit starts
We takin′ out the mainstream, each and every artist
I'm on a murder spree to kill ′em all yo, regardless
All these simple cats snappin' they fingers, leanin′ back
I'ma snap they fuckin′ necks and step over they backs
Hey look! I really got Akon on a hook
Literally in my basement, kid is hangin' on a hook
Swingin' and dangelin′ on a chain cut in half
I put T in Pain when his brain guts splattered
Hit Justin with a timber and dumped his ass in a lake
And I ain′t done, i't′s just begun, the underground is at stake

It might blow up, but it won't go - Pop!
It might blow up, but it won′t go - Pop!
We might blow up but we will never go - Pop!
Kickin' wicked shit until my cold heart stops!
It might blow up, but it won′t go - Pop!
It might blow up, but it won't go - Pop!
We might blow up but we will never go - Pop!
Kickin' wicked shit until my cold heart stops!

Takin′ out every bitch that I′m hearin' on the radio
I hate it yo, they hatin′ on the crazy flow and payin' dough
To all the overrated kids, well now it′s gonna stop
'Cuz it′s really goin' down to all the youngins on the Joc
Bunch of rapper in a duffle bag boy
And label exec's are now becoming unemployed
You! ain′t no superman, I′ll take an axe and throw
Blood and guts is everywhere, "we supersoaked them hoes!"
You want me in the club doin' a "Shoulder Lean"
But I′d rather take a knife and stab your "Throat and Spleen"
With a hammer to the knees, now let me see ya "Walk It Out"
Cause I can't even relate to what these rappers talk about
I throw a pipe bomb and I′ll blow up ya spot
And you in flames screamin' "This is why I′m, this is why I'm hot"
You could make a mil, sayin' nothin′ on a track
But I′ma fuckin' kill every rapper that is whack

It might blow up, but it won′t go - Pop!
It might blow up, but it won't go - Pop!
We might blow up but we will never go - Pop!
Kickin′ wicked shit until my cold heart stops!
It might blow up, but it won't go - Pop!
It might blow up, but it won′t go - Pop!
We might blow up but we will never go - Pop!
Kickin' wicked shit until my cold heart stops!

Even bitches ain't safe, I got these hoes on they knees
I hit Fergie with a brick and gave that bitch a black eyed "peas"
What′s the fun in suckin′ dick, one in the neck with some pearls
Nah ya need to "Swallow That Girl"
I went to rehab and checked in with Amy Winehouse with heroin
Enough to kill an elephant, but really that's irrelevant
Beyoncé in the closet man, gagged and tied
To remain until she dies, it′s your "Destiny Child"
I carjacked Rihanna, told her shut up and drive
Shoved an umbrella down her throat and then I opened it wide
Ciara had my goodies in her mouth but wouldn't swallow
So I dumped my load all over Nelly Furtado
Danity Kane, all them bitches got slain
But I made them call me Diddy as I viciously raped
I′m morbid, fucked every chick and they was all sick
Except for Missy though, I wouldn't fuck her with YOUR dick

It might blow up, but it won′t go - Pop!
It might blow up, but it won't go - Pop!
We might blow up but we will never go - Pop!
Kickin' wicked shit until my cold heart stops!
It might blow up, but it won′t go - Pop!
It might blow up, but it won′t go - Pop!

We might blow up but we will never go - Pop!
Kickin' wicked shit until my cold heart stops!

Overall Meaning

In Q Strange's song Pop!, the lyrics are a scathing critique of mainstream pop music and its artists. The song starts by acknowledging that the listener is probably someone who enjoys darker, gothic music that has no place in the pop charts. The chorus repeatedly reminds us that while some may blow up and achieve commercial success, they will never truly be part of the underground scene. Q Strange then proceeds to brag about how underground artists like himself are the real "masters of wicked shit" while the mainstream artists can't handle the "brutal mosh pit" that is the underground scene. He goes on to boast about killing off every single mainstream artist, from pop stars like Justin Timberlake to R&B artists like T-Pain, all while keeping Akon literally hanging on a hook in his basement.

The song is clearly meant to be provocative, offensive and controversial. Q Strange uses extremely graphic, violent and misogynistic lyrics to express his disdain for the bubblegum pop world. He talks about killing and raping female pop stars like Beyoncé, Ciara, Rihanna, and Danity Kane. The lyrics are intentionally disturbing and nauseating, and it is clear that the song is not to be taken literally but is rather an expression of frustration and anger against the music industry.
