Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Qual's song Cyber Care explore the dangers and consequences of relying too heavily on technology and the digital world. The opening line, "electrode, diode, chromosome, color code," draws attention to the intricate and complex nature of technology and its integration with human biology.

The next line, "central nervous system overload," suggests that technology can overwhelm and overstimulate the human brain, potentially leading to negative consequences. The following line, "deprogrammed in another zone," implies that individuals may become disconnected from their own emotions and personal experiences due to the over-reliance on technology.

The chorus introduces the term "Cyber Care," which can be interpreted as the care and maintenance of one's digital self, as well as the dangers and negative consequences that come with living in a world that prioritizes technology over human interaction and emotional experiences.

As an older man, I rarely go full beyonce level adoration over anyone's art anymore, but I think I can fully appreciate this Maybelline cat's take on some things. His impact in music certainly occupies my radar, and I always pay attention to artists who seem to criticize the effect of digital technology in cultures. The child of humankind is attempting to investigate it's own behaviors through the passions of our furthest artists. I hope to see Qual rock it out on a stage some day before I croak. That'd be fucked up!

Then you have people like Tim Hecker who criticize the digital culture and world in a really asinine way. Qual's latest work keeps exploring on this theme. One interesting tidbit is that the album art for this is a delection of a famous scene involving the Hindu goddess Kali. Hanover Lebanon's scifi sky album ends with a song called come Kali come where Maybelline is chanting to the goddess. Look up Kali and the symbolism around it, I think it's relevant to his work.
