Vile visions, despaired in a throwning black tower of pain. Concealed yearns of a desolate heart, trying to scratch that unscratchable rotting itch from within. Centuries of sorrow drenched in gloomy electronics that palpitate like human passions.
A call for help,
Qual.

O' Ornate Spade
Qual Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I call your name
With my last breath
My crimson channels
Become cold and hollow
They turn gangrene
And mix with the shadows
With ancient earth
Decorate my shell
I'll cry neptunes
Under the ground
Waiting for you
Where there is no sound
Waiting for you
Where there is no sound
O' Ornate Spade bury me sweet
As deceased I must look neat
I'll cry neptunes
Under the ground
Waiting for you
Where there is no sound
Waiting for you
Where there is no sound
Waiting for you
Where there is no sound
Looking paler than death
I call your name
With my last breath
My crimson channels
Become cold and hollow
They turn gangrene
And mix with the shadows
The lyrics to Qual's song O' Ornate Spade are rich with imagery that paints a picture of death and the desire for a proper burial. The opening lines, "Looking paler than death, I call your name with my last breath" set the tone for the song, suggesting that the singer is on their deathbed and addressing someone they love. The imagery of "crimson channels" becoming "cold and hollow" adds to the sense of decay and the body shutting down. The line "mixing with the shadows" is particularly striking, suggesting a merging of the physical body with the spiritual world.
The chorus of "O' Ornate Spade bury me well, with ancient earth decorate my shell" underscores the importance of a proper burial and highlights the singer's desire for their remains to be treated with respect. The use of the term "ornate" suggests a desire for a fancier burial, perhaps one that is beyond what they would normally be afforded. The repetition of the lines "I'll cry neptunes under the ground, waiting for you where there is no sound" is haunting and suggests a deep longing and sadness.
Overall, the lyrics to O' Ornate Spade are evocative and beautifully written, capturing the melancholy and sadness of death and the desire for a proper send-off.
