Hammer to Fall
Queen Lyrics
Yeah
Here we stand or here we fall
History won't care at all
Make the bed, light the light
Lady Mercy won't be home tonight
You don't waste no time at all
Don't hear the bell but you answer the call
It comes to you as to us all
Yeah, we're just waiting for the hammer to fall, yeah
Oh every night, and every day
A little piece of you is falling away
But lift your face the Western way
Build your muscles as your body decays, yeah
Tow the line and play their game
Yeah, let the anesthetic cover it all
'Til one day they call your name
You know it's time for the hammer to fall
Rich or poor or famous
For your truth it's all the same
(Oh no, oh no)
Oh, lock your door but rain is pouring
Through your window pane
(Oh no)
Hey yeah, baby, now your struggle's all in vain, yeah
For we who grew up tall and proud
In the shadow of the Mushroom Cloud
Convinced our voices can't be heard
We just wanna scream it louder and louder and louder
What the hell are we fighting for?
Ah, just surrender and it won't hurt at all
You just got time to say your prayers
Yeah, while you're waiting for the hammer to, hammer to fall
Hey, yes
Let's get on the floor, yeah
Hammer
You know
Hammer to fall
Yeah
Hey, woo hoo
Ha ha, ha ha
I've been waiting for the hammer to fall
Give it to me one more time

"Hammer to Fall" is a 1984 hard rock song written by Brian May and performed by the British rock group Queen. It appeared on their 1984 album The Works.
It was the fourth and final single to be released from that album, although the single version was edited down by thirty seconds in contrast to the version on the album. Different sleeves were used to package this single and the live picture sleeve is now a collector's item. The song was also the subject of a popular music video directed by David Mallet Read Full Bio"Hammer to Fall" is a 1984 hard rock song written by Brian May and performed by the British rock group Queen. Different sleeves were used to package this single and the live picture sleeve is now a collector's item. The song was also the subject of a popular music video directed by David Mallet, in which was a regular live performance of the song by the band in Brussels during the Works Tour (Roger Taylor can be seen wearing a "Choose Life" t-shirt in the video). The song harks back to the Queen of old, with a song being built around a hard angular and muscular riff.
The song was a concert favorite and was also played at Live Aid, to great success. It peaked at number 13 in the UK and was later featured in the movie Highlander.
At the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992, Extreme singer Gary Cherone performed the song with the band, having earlier done a medley of other Queen songs with his own group.
For Brian May's 1998 Another World tour, he slowed down the intro of the song considerably (sounding almost like the intro of It's Late) before speeding it up in the middle. This arrangement would be used to great effect on the 2005 and 2006 Queen + Paul Rodgers tours, an example of which was released on the Return Of The Champions album and DVD.

Lyrics:
Yeah!
Here we stand, or here we fall,
History won’t care at all
Make the bed, light the light, yeah,
Lady Mercy won’t be home tonight.
Yeah,
You don’t waste no time at all,
Don’t hear the bell, but you answer the call
Comes to you as to us all,
And — we’re just waiting for the Hammer to Fall, yeah!
Oh, every night, and every day,
A little piece of you is falling away
But lift your face, the Western Way, baby —
Build your muscles as your body decays.
Yeah,
Toe your line and play their game,
And let the anesthetic cover it all
‘Till one day, they call your name,
You’ll know it’s time for the Hammer to Fall, yeah.
Rich or poor or famous,
For your truth, it’s all the same, yeah, babe. (Oh no — oh no!)
Oh, lock your door, but rain is pouring,
Through your window pane (Oh no!)
Ah, baby, now your struggles all in vain, yeah, yeah!
For we, who grew up tall and proud,
In the shadow of the Mushroom Cloud
Convinced our voices can’t be heard,
We just wanna scream it louder and louder and louder,
What the hell we fighting for?!
Ah, just surrender and it won’t hurt at all, no.
You just got time to say your prayers,
Yeah, while you’re waiting for the Hammer to, Hammer To Fall.
Hey! Listen — it’s going to fall, right!
Hammer, you know, ah, Hammer To Fall, yeah!
Woooo...
Hey, hey, woo-woo!
Hah, hah!
While you’re waiting for the Hammer To Fall.
Give it to me one more time!
