Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "In The Space Capsule" appear to take the listener on a journey through space. The opening lines speak of a "strange object imaged in the Imperial Vortex," implying that there is something unusual that has been detected within a specific region of space. As the lyrics progress, it becomes clear that the object in question is a spaceship that is approaching a fiery planet. The agents in control of the situation communicate with each other to ensure that the object is landed safely.

The final line of the song brings the listener into a different scene entirely. It seems as though the prisoners from the spaceship are being ordered to march towards Emperor Ming. This abrupt shift in focus may be interpreted as a commentary on the futility of escape in a world ruled by a despotic leader.

Overall, "In The Space Capsule" is a vivid portrayal of the dangers and mysteries that lurk in outer space. It suggests that even the most advanced technology cannot fully protect us from the unpredictable forces of the universe.

Right up there with Pink Floyd, i can only imagine if they kept this up and Freddie had not passed so soon we might have had some more amazing soundtracks and a real musical future to rely on. His passing really stymied these kinds of experiments. That voice was just perfect and all the sound effects of the 80s were just fabulous, those old Rolands and Moogs sounded gorgeous.- Had he been around through the entire 90s and further on we would have had many more soundtracks and albums and hit songs. Such a shame he died so young.

@germanicelt

Same here, when the drums start and they fly into the black hole.

@Tovenaar13

I always LOVED the melody in this great little gem!

All Flash Gordon’s songs should be used in a future movie

@stevemcgee99

Yes, a remake of the exact same movie, but better special effects so it's not campy. For example, the hawkmen fight should be completely awesome. Same music, essentially same costumes.

@stevemcgee99

@ReaktorLeak Better cranes to shuttle hawmen across the stage, better timing of weapons firing and hitting their targets, better controlled demolition of pyrotechnics closer to the actors. Better physical props. Better costumes. All of this can be done better today than in 1980. No CGI needed.

@stevemcgee99

@ReaktorLeak Totally. Lizard guys with eyes in their mouths could be improved. But mainly I'd like to see hawkmen feathers move around, etc. More blue blood coming out of the impaled prince. Shots of the bore worms in the princess's skin (so it's more believable she'd betray her father).

But really, a shot-for-shot remake would be best!

@dominicberry5577

This was a really distinctive tune. It stayed with me long after I'd seen the movie.
I mean the whole soundtrack was right in line with the movie, it was great,
but the sense of mystery this tune imbued it with was incredible.
It's a small jewel.
