Call Me
Queen + Paul Rodgers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love

Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love
She lives in a luxury apartment
In the heart of town
I live in the country
And my house is tumbling down

Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love

I met her in her neighborhood
I was just passing through
One look was all it took
Yeah, one look or two

Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love

You got my name
You got my number
You got my number
You got my name
Have mercy

Now I'm gonna settle down
Get myself a wife or two
No more of this running around
Like I used to do

Call me if you need my love, baby
Call me if you need my love
Call me if you need my love, baby
Call me if you need my love

Call me if you need my love, baby
Call me if you need my love

Call me if you need my love, baby
Call me if you need my love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Queen + Paul Rodgers's song Call Me express the desire for a strong and sincere connection with someone who needs love. The chorus repeats the same simple message: "Call me if you need my love." The lyrics highlight the contrast between the two characters. She lives in a luxury apartment in the heart of town, while he lives in the country, and his house is tumbling down. The guy is seemingly from different social and economic backgrounds, but he desires a relationship with her that crosses all barriers.

The second verse tells us that it was not love at first sight, but their attraction soon grew stronger. He met her in her neighborhood, and one look was all it took for him to fall in love. The last verse shows how the relationship has changed him. He is ready to settle down and not run around like before.

The song portrays a strong sense of vulnerability and highlights the importance of reaching out to others in times of need. The lyrics suggest that love can overcome all differences and hardships, bringing two people together from entirely different worlds.

Forgot how much I enjoyed this unusual collaboration. Paul is his own man, and definitely not Freddie, but he never pretended or tried to be. It was just a fun period that produced some different music as well as getting Queen music "live" on the road again.
