Um bum ba de
Um bu bu bum da de
Pressure pushing down on me
Pressing down on you no man ask for
Under pressure that brings a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets
Um ba ba be
De day da
Ee day da that's okay
It's the terror of knowing
What the world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming Let me out
Pray tomorrow gets me higher
Pressure on people people on streets
Day day de mm hm
Da da da ba ba
Okay
Chippin' around kick my brains around the floor
These are the days it never rains but it pours
Ee do ba be
Ee da ba ba ba
Um bo bo
Be lap
People on streets ee da de da de
People on streets ee da de da de da de da
It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming let me out
Pray tomorrow gets me higher higher high
Pressure on people people on streets
Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work
Keep coming up with love but it's so slashed and torn
Why, why, why?
Love love love love love
Insanity laughs under pressure we're breaking
Can't we give ourselves one more chance
Why can't we give love that one more chance
Why can't we give love give love give love give love
Give love give love give love give love give love
'Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the (people on streets) edge of the night
And loves (people on streets) dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure
Under pressure
Pressure
The lyrics of "Under Pressure" describe the weight of anxiety caused by the struggles of everyday life, the frustration of not being able to escape reality and the pressure that comes with just being a human. The opening lines "Mm ba ba de, Um bum ba de, Um bu bu bum da de" serve as a nonsensical introduction, which later on becomes a rhythmic pattern that repeats throughout the song. The following lines "Pressure pushing down on me, Pressing down on you no man ask for, Under pressure that brings a building down, Splits a family in two, Puts people on streets" show how this pressure can affect anyone, not just individually but also affecting families and society as a whole. The chorus lyric "It's the terror of knowing, What the world is about, Watching some good friends Screaming Let me out, Pray tomorrow gets me higher" highlights the fear and anxiety of being aware of the challenges in the world, observing friends facing their own struggles, and searching for hope for a brighter future. The song's poetry expresses a profound message about the importance of love and connection as a source of support and guiding force. The final lines affirm the message of unity and community, declaring, "This is our last dance, This is ourselves, Under pressure, Under pressure, Pressure."

Because of Annie, this is one of the few times my eyes were not 100% glued to Bowie.
What an amazing talent and beauty she is.
@triggerpointtechnology
I met David Bowie while piloting a jet he chartered. While walking back to use the facilities I caught his eye and said:
“Under Pressure with Annie Lennox, one of the best performances of all time”.
He just grinned at me and politely nodded his head in acknowledgment.
That was all.
@badbudgie1539
How cool is that !
@bigbasil1908
Sadly he had probably had the same comment made to him a thousand times. This would result in an underwhelming response from him

Annie, to me, is the only person I can imagine ever living up to Freddie's shoes on this. She performs beautifully. Shivers.
@contrabbasso76
Absolutely agree. How easy it would’ve been to cheese up all of Freddie’s scat singing improv, and yet she performed it in her own style and nailed it.
