Tie Your Mother Down
Queen Paul Rodgers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ooh, ooh yeah, ooooh yeah
Get your party gown
Get your pigtail down
Get your heart beatin' baby
Got my timin' right
Got my act all tight
It's gotta be tonight my little
School babe

Your Mamma says you don't
Your Daddy says you won't
And I'm boilin' up inside
Ain't no way I'm gonna lose out this time - oh no

Tie your mother down
Tie your mother down
Lock your daddy out of doors
I don't need him nosin' around
Tie your mother down
Tie your mother down
Give me all your love tonight

You're such a dirty louse
Go get outta my house
That's all I ever get from your
Family ties, in fact I don't think I ever heard
A single little civil word from those guys
But you know I don't give a light
I'm gonna make out all right
I've got a sweetheart hand
To put a stop to all that
Snipin' an' grousin' goin' on all night

Tie your mother down
Tie your mother down
Take your little brother swimmin'
With a brick (that's all right)
Tie your mother down - yeah yeah
Tie your mother down
Or you ain't no friend of mine - ooh no friend of mine -
No no, ow, yeah, bad guy

Ooh, your Mammy and your Daddy gonna
Plague me till I die
They can't understand it, I'm just a
Peace lovin' guy

Ooh, tie your mother down
Tie your mother down
Get that big big big big big big daddy out of doors
Tie your mother down - yeah
Tie your mother down
Give me all your love tonight
All your love tonight

Give me every inch of your love - ooh
All your love tonight
Yeah, gotta get my timin' right hey

Ooh, all your love
Tie your mother down

Overall Meaning

The song "Tie Your Mother Down" by Queen with Paul Rodgers is a raunchy rock anthem that talks about a rebellious lover who wants their partner to ignore their family's disapproval and get down and dirty with them for the night. The singer manages to convince their partner to get ready for a night of passion, disregarding their parents and enjoying the moment. The contentious and energetic lyrics are about pushing boundaries and shaking off societal norms, with the singer becoming increasingly heated and rebellious as the song flows on.

The song begins with the singer urging their lover to dress up for a wild night of fun, creating a sultry and alluring atmosphere. They then proclaim that the time is right and that they have their act together, building momentum for the song's main theme. The chorus explodes with the singer demanding their partner tie their mother down and lock their father out of the house so that they can have a wild night of passion without any interruptions. The lyrics become even more shocking and daring, with the singer urging the partner to take their little brother swimming with a brick as a way of asserting their dominance.

Interestingly, the song's catchy melody and lyrics about pushing the limits made it a popular anthem among biker gangs and others who were looking for a way to rebel. Despite some critics claiming that the song was too crude and disrespectful, "Tie Your Mother Down" became a hit, both in Europe and the US. As it turns out, some daring and rocker spirit can go a long way.

I saw Queen & PR twice, they were fantastic, paul never tried to step into Freddie's shoes, he just sang the songs the way they were ment to be sang! I never had the privilage of seeing Freddie live or Queen as a whole, but we have there live concerts on DVD for good memories, Freddie is gone but never forgotten R.I.P

Why would he step into someone else's shoes? Respect for Fredy, but Paul Rodgers is bigger than all of them.

La mejor versión en vivo es la del CD " live Magic " , último concierto de Queen y también la versión del segundo concierto en Wembley. Está versión es muy buena también , sobretodo la parte final.

It could be called "It May Be Paul Right Now, Roger" for all I care. Doesn't change that it is fucking awesome and it gives a new generation the chance to see living legends perform songs that will never lose their beauty.

No disrespect to anyone on here posting, about Queen, as it was with Freddie, as we all know how good he was, but, Paul was & is a legend from all the work he did in rock . . . .long before queen came on the scene, so massive respect to Paul, the remainder of Queen, for having the balls, to want to take Queen into a new era, with lots of new young fans. They all wanted to do this, to keep the sound of Queen alive forever, & to do it in the way Freddie would have liked it to be done, Rock on!!!
