Resistance
Queensryche Lyrics

Listen to the call of the wild
Brother, sisters carrying signs
Breathe deep before it's too late
The sky is falling, burning your eyes
Down in New Orleans river's boiling
Nothing living, nothing to eat
Thank the lord, daddy's working eight to five
Give and take
Has all we've learned been wrong?
Look around at what we've been given
Maybe we've taken too long
Resistance shouts the man on the right
Can't solve the problem overnight
Resistance listen to the call of the wild
Burning coal, got to keep the company warm as
The rain keeps killing the trees
Cut 'em down quick
Pay the man his wage, he's making paper to fuel the "information age"
Out in the mid west, hear the roar of the plough
Turning grassland into sand
Got to feed the people more every day
But the wind keeps blowing the land away
Give and take
Has all we've learned been wrong?
Look around at what we've been given
Maybe we've taken too long
Resistance shouts the man on the right
Can't solve the problem overnight, resistance
Liberal opposition crying violation
Stop the madness, resistance
Through the din, one voice we should hear
Resistance listen to the call of the wild
There's no easy solution
The price is high, and it's time to pay
Turn of the century vision
Focused on a better way
Resistance shouts the man on the right
Can't solve the problem overnight
Resistance liberal opposition crying violation
Stop the madness resistance
Through the din, one voice we should hear
Resistance listen to the call of the wild
The song "Resistance" by Queensryche is a reflection on the environmental, social, and political issues plaguing the world. From protests in New York to the destruction of the environment, the lyrics showcase the struggles that people face every day. The song describes the pollution of the rivers in New Orleans, the felling of trees for profit, the overworking of people to pay medical bills for cancer treatment, and the consequences of short-sighted policies on the environment. The lyrics suggest that humanity has taken too long to act and that we need to listen to the "call of the wild" and resist the destructive forces surrounding us.
The chorus emphasizes the need for resistance against the problems faced by society. The man on the right speaks up against the injustices and emphasizes that there is no easy solution to the problems. The mention of "liberal opposition crying violation" stresses the political side of the issue, and the song points out that all parties need to be united to make a difference. The call for resistance is an invitation to act against the problems and the damaging policies that have created them.

This album (Empire) and Mindcrime are two of the finest prog metal albums ever. And the fact that they could pull it all off live puts them in a very small, very exclusive circle of legendary bands. One day they will be rediscovered, and finally have their due. For now, those of us who remember them need to tell our younger friends - this is what it used to be like, when rock bands were MUSICAL!

Rage for Order ranks right up there with Empire and Mindcrime

Agree with it all, except this wasn’t always what it was like. Queensrÿche was not the average, they were exceptional

Queensryche, Foreigner and especially White Snake are so under rated they’re really awesome 😎 bands but that’s really sad

This is one of those inspirational songs from Queensryche that, unfortunately, did not receive the airplay it should have received. It is song that is a great call to action. What is particularly lamentable is that this song was written over 20 years ago, and many of the problems that this song speaks of are still occurring today, and some of these problems have gotten worse. Viewing how little the world has worked to rectify these systemic problems, since "Resistance" was written, illustrates the truism, expressed by Hegel:
"We learn from history that we do not learn from history."
