I seemed to have lucked out when I saw the movie on opening night, myself. The audience did laugh at the comedic relief which was distracting, but for the most part they were very respectful and quiet. No one talked, everyone was engaged in the film. My favorite part was towards the end-- (OKAY SPOILERS BELOW YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)

--where someone in the audience literally went "NOOOoooo!" when Bucky was going poof in front of Steve, and then started crying. Legit crying. So upset.

I was sad about T'challa and Spider-Man, though. And Wanda, but mostly because I think she deserves a better love interest than freaking Vision, and would rather see her be able to act on her own without the presence of a dude around her.

Interesting because I actually found Thanos as the weakest part of the film, he was definitely menacing but his reasoning didn’t seem to make any sense, like I get the overpopulation thing and wanting to help people in a twisted way but it’s still dumb for one reason, the infinity stones, he could easily shrink people, make each world bigger, make food bigger, he could create more land, he can do whatever he wants and he just seemed kind of stupid to me at the end because his plan would only make sense if he didn’t have the god damn gauntlet, at least in the original you understand why he does it because he’s not trying to help the universe he’s carrying out a task for the person he loves which would kill any point to this reasoning since when is love logical? I really liked the actor just his whole purpose was beyond stupid

What I really liked about this movie is that Thanos was just a giant pressure point that everyone needed to defeat in order to survive, and once he came to a certain place to get an infinity stone, you can feel the hopelessness of the situation and almost intimidating.

I think I love the Guardians humor a lot because of the great chemistry the team has, so the way they play off of each other was great. Also, I feel grateful that my theatre experiences are never as bad as Adums. I saw Force Awakens and Last Jedi opening day in packed theaters and never has people cheer the appearance of characters.

I am really fascinated by how Adam has his way of doing film analysis that is very consistent of course, where the consideration is often dedicated to the film in isolation, less so the film's place in culture. I think there are strengths and weaknesses to that approach, but I feel like Adam is the only movie reviewer on YouTube (at least that I come to) that really does try to see things in a vacuum, and it is good for someone to.

This one is my second favorite behind winter soldier, both were well done in the drama and action areas. I thought the clapping, cheering and laughing by the audience was annoying too. But I really enjoyed the movie and felt they killed off the characters well enough even though they weren’t “kills” rather than just them “disappearing”. I am definitely going to see this again and hopefully more marvel movies are like this. Nice review too Adam! I really enjoy the movie appreciator rather than hardcore marvel fan boy. Not every super hero action movie is the “greatest” movie to exist

I was in a packed theater opening night and thank God, the audience was really respectful of the other moviegoers. No clapping, no cheers, just some scattered laughter at the jokes and even then they didn’t go overboard. It made the whole experience even better.

I usually don't like commenting on movies, it's much easier to break down a book for me, but i thoroughly enjoyed this film. I am not a big marvel or superhero fan but my bff offered me tickets to an early screening/premier on the 25th. Couple of days before that i decided to see age of ultron, black panther, homecoming and the 1st avengers film (i saw most of the other marvels films thus far). So everything was fresh for me and i must say...what an experience. A scene literally moved me to tears, i had chills during some other parts and oh my god the acting and cgi were amazing. There was a good balance between the dramatic and more humorous parts imo (although some of the jokes were mediocre at best or just fell flat). I would really recommend this fuckfest to everyone. I'd give it a 7.5/10.

I apparently got lucky with my audience opening day. They weren't loud and obnoxious, rather respectful. The jokes that were actually rather funny got some laughs out of people, but for the most part the audience was engrossed in the film, like I was, taking in every detail and being rather respectful. I enjoyed this movie far more than YMS did, but not every film is gonna be a winner for some people. The pacing was actually rather well done, the movie doesn't really give you a chance to breathe once the action starts up. Characters worked really well with each other and it came together in a rather amazing movie I didn't think it was going to be. I didn't believe Marvel had it in them to put the balls to the wall attitude with it, and the film ends in a crazy way I wasn't expecting. My audience didn't even cheer at the end because it was that impactful. I'd say it's a rather good film I encourage anyone who enjoys superhero movies to go watch.

I had a bad theater experience too Adam, I bought tickets too late and got stuck in the front row. The guy next to me was snoring for ten minutes straight and was on his phone the whole movie. There were these 8-year-olds behind me yelling out whatever character the movie was trying to tease. And the clapping thing happened to me also.

After Ragnarok I think they're getting much better at timing and planting in jokes, spoilers ahead here:

Drax especially has a lot of good punchlines and jokes just by himself, his "you can't see me" and "why is Gomora" bits probably the two best ones. My theater thankfully was not really packed and was thankfully occupied by people like me that let out a laugh or a chuckle, and didn't piss themselves laughing as loud as possible to be obnoxious. So it was easy to let the jokes slide by and not get irritated by people who've just been exposed to their first bit of comedic timing. Because seeing the first Avengers, that was a gigantic issue I had in the theater to the point people are so loud and laughing so hard the film was literally eclipsed by it. Especially with the "*insert character here* is on screen, yell and chant and go nuts like animals" moments. I felt all the jokes and banter were well timed and solid besides those odd times during battle like in Wakanda where Steve and Thor are talking about each other's facial hair and regular hair.

Yeah it's worth a chuckle, but stuff is happening in the background and a fight is going on and suddenly two dudes are talking about their hair and everything slows down. Or Tony's "Squidward" joke, or Banner and his dilemma with his inner beast. The humor honestly was really great, last two times I myself actually and genuinely lol'ed were from Season 1&2 of My Hero Aca at certain moments, and Lost in Space on Netflix and probably other things I'm forgetting. I laugh or have chuckles at a lot of things, but this movie and those examples had a lot of good moments where I laughed or thought "damn that's actually pretty funny." My only point to really address.

You have to give them credit tho. A 6/10 or being a "Good" superhero movie is one thing, but this is way better that it deserves to be. It has a billion main characters and it's setting up another film and also is the culmination of a 10 years cycle. It's crazy! The MCU actually pulled it off!

The movie improves greatly and the plot becomes a lot clearer when you realize that Thanos is the protagonist. You're still rooting against him, but he is undertaking the classic "hero's journey" of common storytelling. That's why the last shot before the credits makes sense.

Personally I thought every Drax joke was very funny, the best in the movie actually, some jokes where not that good but I think this movie has the most well written humor in any Marvel movie.

Not sure why most people, including Red Letter Media, are confounded as to how the film movie was able to accomplish the seemingly impossible feat of including so many relevant characters without becoming a convoluted mess but the answer is rather obvious, it's because the studio was clever enough to not forcibly compress everything into one film.
This was a very simple yet brilliant move. Two films means double the profit and a helluva easier time for the visionary director(s) to include MORE of what they originally envisioned, effectively giving the creators more versatility and a larger canvas to realize the project. Killing two stones with just a single bird.

jwadd01 That is a good point. But Cap's story still could have been explored in this one. Perhaps I was just expecting his standoff with Thanos in Act 3 of the movie to be much more suspenseful than it was. Perhaps the famous as long as 1 man line. I say this only because even though he got the big movie, so did Iron Man and Black Panther and Thor. He's bar none the most famous Avenger imo, so here's hoping Avengers 4 has him up front.

The acting of one or two people was a little off, but apart from that I really enjoyed the movie. The risks it took where absolutely refreshing, the jokes were mostly on par with what I'm used to from this franchise and the CGI was actually really good. I’m excited to see their thoughts on sardonicast. There’s this collective unsatisfaction with the MCU and yet they talk about it a lot on the podcast. At the very least, there’s some good insights into the criticisms of the films.

IHE really liked it and thought it was one of the best marvel movies, but i think that you shouldnt really take Adams reviews of those films too seriously. You can really recognize that he really doesnt get that much from superhero movies. IHE is the exact oppositve. He usually enjoys really good superhero movies. I believe that every reviewer has a certain genre of music that he/she just does not enjoy and therefore has a hard time appreciating for what it is.

Yeah I felt like a bit of a goof for feeling so full of dread at points, might not be the best MCU film but it felt like one of the more unique entries in terms of how I felt.

liamthemusicreviewer same and that wakanda fight scene was pretty troublesome to watch at some points because of overwhelmingly batshit crazy the situation gets with those gross looking aliens swarming around and that big ass wheel thing that just helped make the situation even more incomprehensible to process. But I loved that scene because of the dread and panic I felt

It's the culmination of 10 years of these stupid movies. I went into Days of Future Past with that same sense of nostalgia and love for the X-Men franchise. But even if I hadn't seen all the films before, it would've still been a great fucking movie. Infinity War would be a DISASTER as a stand alone film

Luke M oh absolutely, I couldn’t see anyone going into this film with 0 knowledge of the MCU though that being said a friend of mine did manage to get the gist of characters like Doctor Strange despite not seeing the stand alone film.

Infinity War would've never been designed to be a stand alone film to begin with. This a different kind of film, where the characters didn't need setting up because they've been doing that for a decade, allowing the film to get straight to the point. IW is a fucking masterpiece compared to BvS, Suicide Squad and Justice League when it comes to managing that amount of characters.

You literally hit the nail on the head about the auidence clapping. I enjoy these movies because they are fun, but when the audience clapps and cheers it really takes you out of the moment. Thats like the only frustrating part of going to watch these movies.

I feel kinda sorry for adam whenever he mentions about someone on their phone or being obnoxious and loud since i've never had this bad of an experience at the cinema. The worst experience i've ever had was, coincidentally, going to see this film and the only bad thing that happened was halfway through one guy started talking rather loudly and stopped really soon after, impressively good since this was the midnight release, which was after a rugby match between two unis a.k.a an excuse to drink

Advice to your friend who is a fan : Go see premieres at dine-in theaters, the audience is alot smaller, and you HAVE to be quiet/respectful. My wife and I went with two friends and it was AWESOME.

Interestingly I felt the opposite way I felt all the humour and character moments were really great but the big emotional ending had little effect on me as I know all these characters are just gonna get brought back for more sequels

i found it hilarious actually, it was one of my favorite movies of all time. Im lucky that i am so bad at predictions, when it comes to movies, and so i can enjoy movies more easily.

I just watched it today and I'm still not certain how I felt about it. I think the only time I was actually taken out of the movie was the one green screen scene with Gamora where her cheekbones kept being chopped off whenever he hair blew.

I've been watching you for a much shorter time than most, and even I understand how your scoring works and that Marvel just isn't the kind of films you're into.
