1. Quo Vadis is a technical melodic death metal band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Their latest offering, the 2005 triple DVD entitled Defiant Indoctrination is a concert performed and recorded in their home town on May 7, 2005. It features spectacular visuals and theatricals. At the show, they performed every song from their latest album, Defiant Imagination, as well as various tracks from their other albums. In addition, the third disc is the entire drum footage of the show, focusing entirely on drummer Yanic Bercier. Special attention has been given to sound, the mix being handled by Jean-Francois Dagenais (Kataklysm, Misery Index). A star-studded lineup of guest musicians is presented, such as famous Quebec cellist Claude Lamothe, Alex Auburn of Cryptopsy fame, bassist Forrest of Augury/Atheretic/Negativa, and a classical choir and violinist to top it off.
On 6 September 2008, Quo Vadis played a concert at The Medley in Montreal, at which Stéphane Paré confirmed that he and Yanic would be leaving the band. Since then, Bart Frydrychowicz has recruited Patrice Hamelin (of Martyr) as drummer, Trevor Birnie (of Damascus) as vocalist and Roxanne Constantin (of Negativa) as Bassist. A rough mix of a new track, "Equilibrium," was released on the band's Myspace page on 25 October 2008.
Since then, Bart has confirmed that work is under way on a new Quo Vadis album, expected to be released in early 2009 and accompanied by a tour.

Minds eye
Certainty
All powerful
Beyond blindness and fear
Confident
Fused with vanity,
Arrogant
Foresight
Relegated
To beg in the streets with despair,
Caution
Forever
Lagging behind [the horizon]
As we sail from Day
Into nights web
Thick
With deceit of a tender embrace
And a knife through the heart!
Blurry eyed we strain,
Seeing a different reality
Each vision
At odds with the Truth
Never again in reach,
So obvious to the ones
Less Myopic
Each vision
As our minds
Blind to
The impending doom
Guided by
Our misguided ways
We plow on
Sight hollowed out,
Vision blunted by
Web of deceit
Thick with contempt
The most vocal burn blessed with scorn
Others hope it goes away
And
Let it happen
Words collide, worlds shatter,
Opinions are cheap
Fed by ignorance
And here is the paradox
How do we reach utopia,
Our shores of Ithaka.
How do we reach utopia,
Our shores of Ithaka.
How do we reach utopia,
Our shores of Ithaka.
If we move
In the opposite direction
While trying.
On The Shores of Ithaka
The lyrics to Quo Vadis's song "On the Shores of Ithaka" explore the theme of human vanity and our misguided ways. The opening lines suggest that we are certain of our power and ability, and that we are overconfident and arrogant. However, we are also blinded by our own vision, which is clouded by deceit and a lack of foresight. The chorus poses a question about how we can reach utopia, or our shores of Ithaka, when we seem to be moving in the opposite direction.
The verses continue to examine the idea of our misguided ways, with caution always lagging behind and our vision blurred by a web of deceit. The most vocal members of society burn blessed with scorn while others ignore the impending doom. The lyrics suggest that we are blind to the truth and that our opinions are fed by ignorance. The paradox comes in when we try to reach utopia while moving in the opposite direction. It seems that we are unable to escape our own blindness and vanity, and the song leaves the listener with a sense of hopelessness.
