Lost in My Mind
RÜFÜS DU SOL Lyrics

Couldn't help but get lost in my mind
Send a postcard, send it to my friends
No number, no return address
Walking and the sky keeps falling down
I'm starting to notice a sound
Everything around me hits the ground
And I can't escape it
I've been walking out all on my own
I've been losing sleep while I'm at home
I don't need my leaders to decide
If I had my choice I'll speak my mind
Walking and the sky keeps falling down
I'm starting to notice a sound
Everything around me hits the ground
And I can't escape it
And I can't escape it
And I can't escape it
I can't escape you
My head keeps talking to me
You're losing me
I can't escape you
My head keeps talking to me
You're losing me
Walking and the sky keeps falling down
I'm starting to notice a sound
Everything around me hits the ground
And I can't escape it
Walking and the sky keeps falling down
I'm starting to notice a sound
Everything around me hits the ground
And I can't escape it
Meet me at the corner of my mind
It's quiet and nothing's around
Far away and I can't hear a sound
I'm lost and I like it
The beginning of RÜFÜS DU SOL's song Lost in My Mind immediately sets the tone with the lyrics, "Did you wonder where I've been all night, Couldn't help but get lost in my mind." These lyrics seem to suggest that the singer of the song is experiencing some sort of crisis or confusion, and they've turned inward to find clarity. As the song progresses, we learn that the singer is experiencing a sort of dissociation, as they describe feeling disconnected from the world around them. This is exemplified in the lyrics "Walking and the sky keeps falling down, I'm starting to notice a sound, Everything around me hits the ground, And I can't escape it." These lyrics create a sense of chaos and disorientation, as if the singer's grip on reality is slipping away.
Despite this, the singer seems to find solace in this state of mind. The line "I'm lost and I like it" suggests that the singer has found some sort of inner peace or clarity amidst the confusion. This sentiment is further emphasized in the chorus, where the singer once again describes being unable to escape the noise around them, but seems to find comfort in that fact. The repeated phrase "And I can't escape it" almost takes on a mantra-like quality, as if the singer is accepting their situation and finding a way to live within it.
Overall, Lost in My Mind is a song about disassociating from reality and finding solace in a state of confusion. Through its lyrics and instrumentation, the song creates a sense of chaos and uncertainty, but ultimately finds a sense of peace within that chaos.

Why?
@dianepurcell9840
As a pianist and keyboard player performing and recording in the 80s to hear all this 'coming back' in such a richer and fuller mode just makes my heart soar.

Notorious JMB I saw them in San Francisco this month. The only other show I can compare it to was seeing DJ Shadow live. I can’t decide which was more epic, but both were certainly religious experiences. 🙏🏻🙌🏻

Saw them in Birmingham UK last night, what a night, mind blowing experience!
