The Dream
R.O.M.E. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm looking for an interruption
Do you believe?
You looking to dig my dreams
Be prepared for anything
You come into my little scene
Hooray, hooray, hip hip hooray
There's one thing I can guarantee
You won't have to dig, dig too deep
Said leave me to lay, but touch me deep
I don't sleep, I dream
I'll settle for a cup of coffee
But you know what I really need

Are you looking to drive my dreams?
You here to run my screens?
You come, deliver my demons
Hooray, hooray, hip hip hooray
Are you coming to ease my headache?
Do you give good head?
Am I good in bed?
I don't know, I guess so
I don't sleep, I dream
I'll settle for a cup of coffee
But you know what I really need

I'm looking for an interruption
Can you believe?
Some medicine for my headache
Hooray, hooray, hip hip hooray
I'm pitching for a new direction
Pinch me when I wake
Don't tell me my dreams are fake
You leave me to lay, you touch me deep
I don't sleep, I dream
I'll settle for a cup of coffee
But you know what I really need
Leave me to lay, but touch me deep
I don't sleep, I dream

I'll settle for a cup of coffee
But you know what I really need

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to R.O.M.E.'s song Don't I are about a person who is seeking an interruption from their regular routine and a deep connection with someone else. They ask their potential partner a series of questions, testing their willingness to dig deeper into the singer's subconscious and satisfy their unconscious desires. "Roma fell? When? Tell me, dont you see the roads we walk on? Tell me, dont you talk a language as similar to latin as you are similar to your parents? Tell me, don't you feel an invicible feeling watching these statues two millennials old and still just as beautiful as the day the marble was taken from the heart of the Earth? Tell me, aren't you...Roman?"

@kryzzan7039

Romans did not invent roads, doubt anyone alive could understand ancient Romans, those statues are not as mighty as they once were as most of the paint is gone.

@ainzsama5101

@@kryzzan7039 nobody said they invented roads, they just structured them more efficiently

@kryzzan7039

Eh, the comment seems to imply we wouldn't have roads if not for them.@@ainzsama5101

@@kryzzan7039 They did invent roads as the concept that we have today. Until then, they were more similar to paths than anything

Rome is still alive, it has become the Church. The West Rome became the Catholic Church, the East Rome became the Orthodox Church
